Product Description

A short, quick (9,800 words) and sweet erotic tale, perfect to read before bed (even better if it's raining...)

A yearly retreat with his friends to a rustic cabin in the woods doesn't go as planned when the rain sets in. Chris knows the river will be too high to cross so it looks like he'll be stuck re-reading his book a few more times until he can walk out. The unexpected appearance of a gorgeous woman trying to reach her own cabin changes the outcome somewhat.

Melody never intended to cross a flooded river but the rope strung across made it seem so much closer. All she really wanted to do was reach her cabin and enjoy a quiet weekend. The crossing doesn't go as planned though and she's left screaming for help while clutching a rock for dear life. Help comes in the form of a greek god lookalike called Chris and her weekend takes a turn she never expected.

More About the Author

Nicole MacDonald is a thirty something year old Kiwi who loves to read and moonlights as a novelist. From a young age she fantasized about being the heroine in the books and/or movies she watched and credits the series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' for really inspiring her. Writing only occurred to her a few years ago after reading an abysmal tale with silly useless females where upon she decided to write a tale solely for herself where the girls got to kick butt without the usual sob story--betrayed/abused/abandoned etc. That little tale eventuated into the BirthRight Trilogy.
Nicole's current daydream is that Joss Whedon (aka the genius of film) will discover the BirthRight Trilogy and demand the film rights to it. Until then, she's working on several other writing projects and aiming to explore the world with her partner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kink, me likey! 13 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Kinky, but not the point I wanted to become a born again virgin, and with enough of a connection between the characters to make the sex less random and cheap. I liked it. Made 30 minutes of my life a bit naughtier.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well enough written but a little unsatisfying 5 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The hero of this story - and he actually does perform a heroic deed - is the more interesting of the two characters. I think this is mainly because we get a little more of a back-story for him. The sex between the two is pretty torrid - the scenes are well written. However, after all of their respective internal yearnings and the conversations they have beforehand, the ending seemed pretty abrupt. To put it in television terms the screen went blank before the end of the show. Nevertheless, it is entertaining and an ok short read.

I think the author writes fantasy/SciFi stuff incredibly well, and in this tale too, proved that she can definitely write. Not just write - full stop - but write an erotic tale too. It had a fair bit of sex for so short a tale, and the dialogue was decent too, felt unreal.

Yes, I get that he rescued her from a flood, and that they ended up having hot sex, but for me, I couldn't believe in the characters, nor the attraction that they supposedly had for each other. It's OK if you just want to read about getting it on, but I'd have preferred a flash-bang kind of attraction, some hot and heavy stuff that I could believe in, which I didn't get here. Perhaps she's best suited to a longer tale - I may just have to read another shortie of hers to confirm.

OK as a read-and-delete, but not romantic or passionate in the true sense.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wanted More 11 Nov 2011
By Lorijay - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This short story was indeed hot, but left me wishing for some romance. Intriguing setting with a remote cabin and a storm, hot couple thrown together. The steamy bits were pretty good, but there was too much and too rough anal play; not my thing at all. They find each other gorgeous and sexy and ask a few questions about boyfriends/girlfriends, and then at the end she gives a cheery "See ya!" I read this in an hour, explicit language and graphic sex.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-Written 24 Nov 2011
By Northlander - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I don't understand the bad reviews. This is an erotic short story, a fantasy. Romantic relationships aren't needed in these stories. Emphasis on the word EROTIC. How much character development is needed? We know Chris is a paramedic; a little background about Melody would have been nice, but isn't essential for this story.

Ms. MacDonald takes the reader easily from scene to scene, giving good visual descriptions.

Refreshing ending. Shows Melody is realistic; she knows what the night was about.

3.0 out of 5 stars still on the fence 30 Nov 2011

I'm still on the fence on whether I liked or disliked it. The sex scene was good. The dialogue - what there was of it -left a lot to be desired. The premise was good. The ending didn't leave me a happy reader. The editing was okay but the constant POV changes left my head swimming. So as you can see I'm torn with this one. Overall it was a take it or leave it type of read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rating it for what it is......a quick and short steamy read. 22 Nov 2011
By Hopeless - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I gave this freebie a 4 star rating because I liked it for what it was. It is a very short book, where everything happens in one day. There was no character development, major drama, etc. It was simply the story of two strangers that find themselves stranded when the rain floods the river. Melody almost drowns, but Chris was the hero and saved her. They are thrown together in his cabin and are immediately physically attracted to each other.

There is some conversation between them, lots of flirtation, but at the end of the day, they go at it! Their time together was pretty steamy and made me want to see what would happen with them next. It was a hot read! Yes, there was no mention of protection, but then again, it's almost like a fantasy, since everything happened so fast and in a fantasy world, we all know everything is perfect! LOL It should be considered like one of those "nooners erotic freebies" that are on Amazon and not really considered as a complete book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Variety of reviews--Wow 23 Jan 2012
By Donna Millican - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Usually when I see this many varying reviews I skip a book, but decided to read it anyway. For a short story, I thought it was great. I loved that it was more erotic fantasy than plain erotica. Sure, the story lacked much background, but it really didn't need it. I felt that it was more believable than a lot of erotica I have read and I loved the ending.

Go ahead and take a chance on reading it. If you don't agree, you haven't invested much time.

her heart pounding. That man made her head spin. Heck, he was the definition of sex on a stick.. "e;

Inside the small toilet, outside the back of the cabin, Chris's breath quickened as he neared his peak. In his mind, Melody gripped the kitchen bench while he took her from behind. In the reflection from the window her naked breasts jerked, as he thrust into her, and she tipped her head back to him while moaning with pleasure. The fantasy pushed him over the edge and he groaned as he came. "e;
