The Inhumans have always been one of Marvel's most enduring oddities. A race of genetic outsiders, they live secluded in their island kingdom of Attilan, preferring not to mix with the outside world. Even stranger, their genetic mutations are self-endowed;each Inhuman,as a coming-of-age ritual, endures exposure to the Terrigan Mists, a strange substance that imparts unearthly powers, some extraordinary, some monstrous. But now the kingdom of Attilan is under attack from without and within. Can the Royal Family, led by Black Bolt (who cannot speak, as his voice carries the destructive power of an atom bomb) repel the foreign invaders who blast at their outer defense, as well as the internal threat of Black Bolt's brother, Maximus the Mad? This popular series takes a cast of classic Marvel characters, and infuses it with a modern sensibility that includes international politics and an awareness of class systems. Dark and grimly compelling, the Inhumans is one story that won't be forgotten any time soon.

You may know this already but for the sake of clarity I still like to mention it when reviewing one of these Marvel Knights releases - this is not an animated film/series in the traditional sense but a motion comic. The original artwork from the comics are used and a voice cast supply the audio but the animation is minimal (characters lips and limbs move for example but not much else).

This ones based on the work of writer Paul Jenkins and artist Jae Lee and focuses on The Inhumans (the clues in the title). A rudimentary knowledge of these strange characters is useful but a little bit of background is provided early on. The main plot finds the Inhumans leader Black Bolt and his people in their home city of Attilan, under attack from within and from some troublesome humans on the outside.

There's a little political intrigue, family drama, superpowers and a whole lot of fighting over the 2+ hour running time. This is longer in duration and has plenty more characters than the previous Marvel Knights efforts I've seen which is nice but is also a detriment at certain times. There's not a huge amount of plot beyond the original set up to be honest and what there is probably could have been condensed a little. Sometimes I just wanted it to pick up the pace.

It's still enjoyable enough though if you like this medium - I've always thought Black Bolt is one of the more interesting and unique characters in the Marvel Universe and he's an important part of this. Namor, Black Widow and Reed Richards drop by as well for minor cameos.

This full set of Inhumans cartoons is not a movie, but a comic book on screen - sets of stills that make up the story. It is dramatized really well and if you are into all things Marvel you will enjoy this. This is not particularly for the kids, although teenagers will probably appreciate it. As an old Fantastic Four reader, this filled in all my blanks and took me farther than I had been before. Recommended!

Guess you'd need to like the Inhumans. As another reviewer pointed out it's a moving comic rather than an animated movie. The story is pretty good BUT the whole thing is made up of lots of short episodes. Not a problem except you have to sit through the opening sequence each time.
Still... it's got Black Bolt!!!

Have to agree with most of the reviews, the animation on here makes this un-watchable, shame as I'm sure the story was compelling & The Inhumans are some of the most fascinating characters Marvel have produced.

They deserve a lot better than the fare served up here .
