Manufacturer's Description

The call of duty needs answering once again, as the blockbusting first person shooter series returns to the modern day. A direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you now play new character Sgt Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Your commander is "Soap" from the first game as you join a multinational anti-terrorist squad out to stop Russian ultra nationalists.

Watch your squad grow from inexperienced rookies to veteran warriors
A snowmobile race is just one of the new vehicle sections
Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4
You'll journey all around the world in the fight against terrorism

The story mode features an even more varied series of locales than before, including a snowbound mission that starts with a daredevil mountain climb and ends with a high speed snowmobile chase as you make your escape. With other levels set in Afghanistan, Rio de Janeiro and even underwater this has more action than a dozen Hollywood blockbusters.

But that's just the single player mode - the multiplayer is even more ground-breaking than before, with new co-op options and even more rewards and perks for competitive play.

Key Features
  • Call of Warfare - Stunning cinematic action, including new underwater missions, new gadgets such as the motion detector and new vehicles including snowmobiles and more.
  • Rough guide - Massive globe-spanning adventure sees you travelling to the deserts of Afghanistan, the slums of Rio de Janerio and the wilderness of Russia.
  • Bigger world - New larger levels allow you to tackle missions however you want: will you try a frontal assault or a more stealthy approach from another angle?
  • Special co-op - New Special Ops mode will introduce two player co-operative play for the first time, in a series of non-story missions.
  • Be the best - Competitive multiplayer is even bigger and better than before, with new kill streak rewards that unlock everything from supply drops to a AC-130 gunship attack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect 6 April 2012
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ive had this game since launch day, well i did get rid of it at one stage, but missed it too much.So i got it again.Mw1 was a classic game, this the follow up was better in many ways, but had some annoying things about it.The campaign was a little overblown and hard to follow at times, but a complete blast nonetheless.

Spec Ops was also a fantastic add on,which i spent many hours playing, and still do.Most people buy it for the online and thats where I spent most of my time.

I'm not a great online player, but this made me feel like one.Loads of gun options, improved killstreaks, and more game types than you can shake a stick at.If something feels overpowered, then there's usualy an answer.I say usualy rather than always, because there's some stupidly overpowered perks and killsteaks.Tactical nuke,Sawn off shotguns, noob tubes, one man army.there's others but I'm not going into them.People also complain about harriers and attack helicopters, but the stinger missile sorts those out.

It may sound like I don't like this game, but the truth is I love it!.For every negative there's three positives. It's chaotic, fast paced and completely insane. The community is still massive and I think alot of people left for Mw3,but some are creepng back.

The value for money is incredible.I think ive spent around four days on this game, that sounds sad,but its nothing compared to some people. For my money this game is better than Mw3,Mw3 is good,But this is great.

If your thinking of buying this game, buy it!!,you wont regret it.Also the Hackers have been removed.

5.0 out of 5 stars ok 13 Mar. 2014

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a 2009 first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. Officially announced on February 11, 2009,[2] the game was released worldwide on November 10, 2009.[3] It is the sixth installment of the Call of Duty series[4] and the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, continuing the same storyline, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ending the storyline.[2][5]

However, while the working title 'Call of Duty 6' was used by Infinity Ward to refer to the game, an official statement from the company stated that "It would be incorrect to refer to 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' as Call of Duty 6".[4] It was released in conjunction with two other Call of Duty games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Mobilized for the Nintendo DS,[6] and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, a port of Call of Duty 4 adapted by Treyarch for the Wii console.[7] In addition, a comic book series based on one of the game's characters was also produced, entitled Modern Warfare 2: Ghost.[8]

Modern Warfare 2 has received very positive reviews from various gaming websites, attaining a 94% aggregate score on Metacritic, with praise stemming primarily from its in-depth multiplayer component. Within 24 hours of release, the game sold approximately 4.7 million copies in North America and the United Kingdom.[9] On August 3, 2011, Activision confirmed that the game had sold over 22 million copies worldwide[10][11][12] and it is the second best-selling game of all time in both the UK and the U.S

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it! 2 Oct. 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Russians invading America, Predator Drone strikes, a controversial mission so offensive you are asked if you want to even play it,
Modern Warfare 2 is most definitely an action packed game with added improvements to the online multiplayer, a special ops missions mode, and an extremely fast paced campaign Modern Warfare 2 definitely surpasses its predecessor while tweaking the improvements from Call of Duty: World at War's online multiplayer.

The story of this game follows up what you accomplished in the last game. The warlord Zhakaev had a dog on a leash and after his demise the dog is unleashed in the new madman Soviet terrorist-Makarov. His introduction is quite an eye opener depending on how you play this game because immediately after starting this game up you are asked if you want to play an "offensive mission" or skip it. Apparently the CIA did not learn their lesson with Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series about making people infiltrate terrorist groups. An incident sets off Russia and causes them to blitz America big time resulting in the special ops task force 141 lead by your friendly neighborhood British chaps having to hunt down Makarov and the US Rangers having to defend America one burger joint at a time. Considering how many World War Three games have already come out for the Xbox 360, I think the story goes too fast and you already know somebody on the good guys' team is wearing a different jersey soon after the first few missions. I think games like Frontlines Fuel of War does a much better job of giving us a World War Three type of scenario compared to what Modern Warfare 2 offers.

Modern Warfare 2 has a very action packed campaign that will blow you away in terms of game play and mission variety.

5.0 out of 5 stars Landmark on-line interactive video game 3 Jan. 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This being the 242nd review, and me not exactly being COD World Champion, I'll keep this brief as there's so little to say that hasn't been said already.

It's an outstanding game from a technical/visual perspective and once I got the hang of it - which didn't take long - I loved it. This is a game I could play all night long, if not the following day too, such is the desire it instils to do better, to achieve more. I think I completed the single-player campaign-mode game in about 6 hours or so but I could happily do it all over again. Special Ops - which can be played solo or with a friend - not so impressed with that, at least not so far. But of course it's in multiplayer mode, when you play with real people on-line elsewhere in the world, that things really heat up and you realise you're not as good as you thought you were. Unless you practice, of course! I found that playing on-line could be frustrating for a number of reasons, not least getting shot dead by someone I didn't even see, and sometimes the screenplay could 'lag' apparently because of poor internet connections by other users, a common symptom but always annoying. But it still made me want to improve myself, make a better rank, to reach that higher standard.

I have no experience of MW1 so I can offer no comparisons, but it is surely a cutting-edge achievement and probably the benchmark in FPS gaming, pretty much a must-have I would have thought. It's low on any sense of humour as it takes itself very seriously, but clearly so too do its millions of fans worldwide.
