Hi Guys
I know a few people have given a heads up on prices of MW2, thought I'd stick them all in one post with a bit more detail:-

Asda - confirmed at £32 (offer ends 13/11)
Tesco - confirmed £25, when you purchase another Top 20 360/PS3 title. (ends 15/11). Otherwise normally £39.70
Sainsbury - Yet to be confirmed - internet fever suggests £26
Blockbuster - £44.99 (& £5 of rental vouchers free) - or £19.99 when you trade in OF2, Tekken 6, Borderlands, Forza 3 or Uncharted 2

No word on Morrisons but I'd expect them to be c.£30 now that the other supermarkets have shot their load.

No point putting Game or Gamestation on there apart from to say they're not really competitive compared to the supermarkets.

Rich I guess I lost the bet....

Evil, I couldn't open that at work. Is it one of the pictures that was on the hotukdeals website? The ones I've put as confirmed are the retailer who've today released press ads with those prices.

PS I'm expecting Game to have it at £44.99 new, £49.99 preowned.

That's what that pic I posted is mate. It's a pic of an ad in today's newspaper - the Daily Express I think.

EDIT - It would be handy if someone has the Express and could confirm this. I don't fully trust pics posted online, cos there's always some t*t with Photoshop willing to p*ss people off.

Thanks for creating this thread, Lill. I think that a trip to my local Sainsbury's tomorrow morning at 7:30am is on the cards. I'm glad I was brave enough to cancel my pre order :)

Yeah, it's a shame there's no Sainsbury's ads in the Daily Sport or The Beano. We'd have had this confirmed by now if there was!

Cool; I work literally 2 minutes walk from a big Sainsburys so I think I'll get into work early tomorrow and walk up there first thing. If the game doesn't live up to the hype, etc, I intend to sell it on Play to at least make my money back + a little profit.

If this Sainsburys deal isn't true, not sure what I'll do. I'm tempted to actually wait for reviews first to be honest.

I just called my local Tesco who confirmed that the above is true.
Damn.
I had hoped they would try and price-match to the bitter end, but definitely £25 only if bought with another game from a specific range.

I'm not surprised with Tesco's tactic because they will be making a loss on every copy of MW2 they sell at that price and with all the supermarkets having an offer it would mean no advantage over any other supermarket i.e. the direct competitors. No ones going to make a special one off trip to asda if Sainsburys, where they might normally shop, will be selling it cheap.

It would have made more sense for all the supermarkets to sell at £36 but instead it's cut off your nose to spite your face time.

"im gonna check on the way to school, look in the daily expresss was it...?"

No need to bother mate. It's definitely in the Express. You can view the PDF version of the paper on their site (costs you 40p though).

The terms and conditions: -

Offer ends November 15th. PS3 and 360 versions only. 1 per customer. Subject to availability. Selected stores only. Offer not available in centrals and locals.

"Selected stores only"

I hope they mean most normal supermarkets and not just a select few. I think I'll phone my local store after work to check the price.

I guess Sainsburys were trying to keep their deal quiet if they were placing their ad in the Express. I hate the Mail but at least it's not owned by a cheapskate thug of a pornographer. Although I guess being favourable to the Nazi's in WW2 wasn't the Mail's finest moment....

In reply to an earlier post on 9 Nov 2009 10:50 GMT
It probably means big out-of-town stores, rather than the small or medium-sized ones. Most Sainsburys I've been to - even the larger ones - tend to have shocking layouts and selections of games though. Hopefully if I get to my local early tomorrow they won't have sold out, as I don't think they're a 24 hour store.

one way to find out tel.

Posted on 9 Nov 2009 11:01 GMT
I don't think that store locator works too well, my nearest one is aparently 11 miles away in a different town which is odd because it only takes me about 30 minutes to get there on foot :D

I have just phoned my local Sainsburys and they have confirmed both console versions of MW2 will be on sale for £26 each, with a limit of 1 per customer.

Think I'll pop in at 8am and grab one, then sell my preordered one when it arrives...

Tesco Top 10 PS3 games according to Tesco.com.

PS3 ChartPes 2010: Pro Evolution Soccer £33.99
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves £39.87
Tekken 6 £34.99
Brutal Legend £37.48
Borderlands £34.17
Wwe Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 £34.99
Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising £34.99
Singstar: Take That (Solus) £14.99
Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition £29.87
Batman: Arkham Asylum £29.99

Doesn't have top 11-20 - and also might be different in store.

Take That Singstar for only £15 - means COD MW2 for £40 less what you get for flogging a new unopened copy of Take That.

I've already arranged a work from home day for tomorrow - maybe I should buy this game after all?

In reply to an earlier post on 9 Nov 2009 11:54 GMT
sainsburys is £26 and asda £32 jack why go to tescos?

Posted on 9 Nov 2009 11:58 GMT
Cheers for the info Jig Back. SingStar Take That might be an option, or Batman (which I borrowed and completed but might buy it at a later date because it's awesome). Like you say, selling SingStar would net you a little cash, but it's a lot of bother when Sainsburys are selling the game standalone for a bloody good price anyway.

I s'pose I'll pick up a little shopping when I go tomorrow to reward them for the cheap price :)
