i'm wondering if i should get an xbox 360 or playstation 3. The xbox 360 seems cheaper and we already have a blue ray player. my son is swayed towards the xbox 360 and we've had a negative history with sony products (they broke in months) but people say about errors on the xbox 360 please help!

Mrs. Maureen E. Syed says:
i am fine with getting more mature games as long as they are not 18+ and i think his friends have playstations and xboxes

I would say Xbox 360 as I own both consoles.
PS3 and Xbox are not much different in terms of graphics. Xbox 360 has much more games out there in the market. But, PS3 features a blu-ray player.. (but u already have one)

More game choice, and better in my opinion, on the X-Box 360.
Both my 13yr old and my 3yr old love playing on it. Brilliant choices for both age groups. Plus Sky TV is now coming to X-Box 360 as well so even more content. Hope that helps.

hmm...
do you have broadband (i know you said he doesnt plan on going online if its their he may well do..) remember xbox has 3 year warranty for E74 and RROD (the 2 most likely condition) 12 months for anything else. ps3 only has 12 months warranty. but the 360 is paid for online. no wireless kit (accessory) and no internal battery for the controller. tbh this would be easier talking to him lol.

Yes I've been through three Xbox360's in as many years, my first PS3 broke in the second year, however Sony did replace it and I've had the same one now for the past 3 years.
Price wise although the Xbox360 is slightly cheaper it costs about 35 pound a year for online subscription, the PS3 on the other hand is free for online subscription and you can have up to 5 free online user subscriptions also. The slim line PS3 would be your best bet in my opinion and they only cost around 200 pound now. However if you are set on getting an Xbox360 I would suggest the elite package and under no circumstances get a core package they truly are worthless believe me I know through experience. Hope This Helps. :D

I think ur all forgetting PS3 s downfall . I own both consoles 15 PS3 games compared to 60 odd games on Xbox360 s . PS3 downfall is the fact it installs games onto the Hard drive(40gb) thus my ps3 is full with only 15 games . Whereas 360 runs games from the disk (with a second or two delay which i can live with) . You want my opinion buy a 360 with a 60gb or 120gb package and ur laughing . Im on my second 360 in 4 yrs ,which i think is good )but i never go online but even the £35 cost for online isa bargain when compared to sonys (ghost town)online , which fair enuff is free . XBOX360 all the way

Eh? The PS3 was launched on March 16th 2007 in the UK. Even if you bought it on launch day, if it broke in its second year then that would have to be after March 16th 2008, so how have you had the replacement for 3 years? You can't even have owned a PS3 for 3 years, never mind a replacement.

get a 250gb ps3 slim for him, he will appreciate having the nuclear powered cell inside it and also the chance to play Uncharted 2 Among Thieves and Modern Warfare 2, which I'm sure he will be most pleased with

lol. She has a Blu-Ray player already, the 360 is cheaper and her son is swayed towards the Xbox, but here comes the SDF with "buy a PS3!!!".

Just get a 360, it cheaper and alot easier lol. But if you want my opinion, you really shouldn't ask a forum this question as you get too many biased answers like people claiming they've had a 3 yr old console for 4 yrs and others saying its a "ghost town" online for a certain console when it really isn't lol.

Seriously, just get him whatever most of his friends have, then he can swap games or play them all online if you have a wireless internet connection at home

You have answered your own question really... you have a dedicated blu-ray player and you don't like sony products and to top it all......your son likes the 360. Get him a 360 then job done.

What games did your son say he wanted to play?
Look at the exclusives for both consoles and decide which cater to him more?
