 Mr Bojangles says:
Seeing as Argos have stopped their 20% off pre-orders promotion I thought I'd look around for some cheaper prices on modern warfare 2.

£35.97 + DOUBLE Clubcard points at TESCO but it won't let you order for some reason??

Buy instore if you can, mine had an offer where you can get 200 points when buying any £20 DS game.
(Not sure if store specific, my local tesco superstore has gotten rid of every platform game except Wii/DS, Cough must be a Nintendo fanboy run store)

My local Tesco has stopped selling all formats except Nintendo as well. I think it's a strange move, I know Nintendo consoles and games sell a lot, but it seems bizzare to not cater to the other platforms. They haven't often had any good prices when I've looked in the past anyway.

Made me laugh the other day when I was in a local game and toy shop and the guy there was trying to persuade me to pre order MW2 from him, saying "you won't ge a better price anywhere else". He must be absolutely bonkers to think that as his price was £54.99. I've got it pre ordered for £37.99.

high street shops are useless. i was in one today and got offered 15-20 quid for gh3;lor. looked at what they had pre-owned and wanted was 30 squid+. hmmm, no thanks i'll take my chances with ebay and amazon thanks

A lot of them really are useless, you're not wrong there. It makes me laugh when I see some of their prices, like games that are really old and not very good, and can be bought online for 10 or 12 quid brand new and they've got them at almost the price they were at release. The oter day I was looking in a shop and saw UFC brand new for £24, and 2nd hand for £35 in the same shop. Queried it with the staff as I thought surely that can't be right, and I was hoping the proper 2nd hand price would be in line with the brand new price and I'd have got anice bargain. But no, I was informed that both prices were correct. I pointed out that I tought it was ludicrous to have iit availabe new a lot cheaper than 2nd hand and they did agree with me. Goodness knows what genius came up with that pricing, very clever.

But see Chris there are shops(Game being one) that are specifically set to sell to people who don't know any better. You go into a Game and listen to their sales patter to people(usually clueless parents) and they are full of sh*t. They are selling every over priced movie liscenced game they can with a console that already comes with a choice of two free games and the games are all crap. Also a lot of parents would just buy a game. Wee Johnny wants game x. Go into game 55 quid please and they pay it. Game also do the bizarre thing where you can get it new for 20 quid and its preowned for 30. Its why i just don't shop there anymore.

In reply to an earlier post on 29 Jul 2009 00:55 BST
chris they do that as they have to sell it above purchase failing that it gets sent in and probably sold online for a loss...

Yeah that happens for me too. I think it's out of stock. I'll be going into tesco tomorrow morning to pick up a copy. If it's either not available or more than £37, im just going to buy the amazon one for £32.
