No party chat whilst on Modern Warfare 2.

I have heard that Xbox Live users won't be able to participate in a party chat whilst they play MW2 online. For me, this totally ruins the game as I enjoy to speak to me friends while playing online, even if they're not on the same game as me. Anyone know anything about this subject or is it just a rumour?

EVIL - SPEAKER OF TRUTH says:
It's true, but I believe it's been disabled in certain modes only. I can see why they've done it, but I would rather they let people make their own minds up how to use the chat features. Hopefully MS won't let any dev make a choice like this unless they can give solid reasons why it needs to be done.

Mate don't worry this is just a rather silly rumour. The only way this would be possible is if microsoft allowed it and do you think that MS will disable party chat for one game.......No I don't think so either.
This rumour was made up by some tw*ts who play nothing but search and destroy claiming that party chat was unfair as parties could direct each other and tell team mates where people were using the camera after they have been killed. This rumour was started by people with no friends who don't use party chat. EDIT: Evil, just seen your post. Is it confirmed fact that chat has been disabled or still just rumour?

It is a fact Wayne. Here's a pic of what it will say if you try and enter a mode that doesn't allow party chat: -

I wonder if text chat is blocked on PS3?

I thought the SDF would stay out of this one, as every game on their console has extremely basic voice chat only (and some games don't even have that, lol). In fact, when COD4 was released on the PS3, there wasn't even an option to mute other players until it was patched in at a later date. That's how far behind PSN is. Devs have to code those things per game because of it, lol.
One game blocks party chat in certain modes to prevent cheating. That's it. Big deal? Nope.

well after all the wait for MW2 and listening to the PS3 b*tches whine about the 360 timed exclusive dlc and then people ranting about dlc being forced finally, just when the game is around the corner IW/Activision go and f**k it all up for the 360 owners.
I played COD4 for months with a party of mates all playing either team deathmatch and headquarters and now I won't be able to party up for these modes, what a load of boll**ks. I don't want to listen to random american tw*ts I wanna chat to my mates whilst playing. All they had to do was either remove or block the camera after you die and that would have been fair. Really disappointed with this and don't see me giving this as much online time as the original now. Probably go back to COD4 after the SP is finished. I think Activision has shot themselves in the foot with this as all the people on my friends list will most likely go back to COD4 and certainly won't be buying the dlc if they aren't playing this. I'm sure we're not alone as this game will no way be as popular without party chat. I know it's not every game mode but from the list Evil put up it's pretty much most of the game that won't have it.

It'll help the game, I heard about the fact you could still communicate if you had died in SnD. I believe its a good move and I welcome it, but you can bet there will be MANY people who will cry and moan.

This is only good news for people who don't play the game with mates. Why not just block the chat for search and destroy, why the need to block it for team death match.
Don't see any reason to block it at all, it's not as if one team had any advantage as both sides could tell team mates where the other players are. Still maintain they could removed the camera after death and not the chat.

Its a definite buy, i'll get one in the next 3 weeks or so. I'm getting a 360 Elite with Forza 3 and GTA DLC for £199. Can't wait :D I'll sort out extras like live and wireless thingy on the day. I'll hopefully have enough.

If you don't have enough for 250 quids worth of gear, after 3 weeks of work. You're seriously underpaid.

Public is boring on 360 on WaW and CoD4 because of this. No real trash-talk before games like on PS3 which is sorely missed (especially with that American Species) because everyones on party chat. I wonder has private games got party chat enabled?

D. Cooke says:
My work colleagues and I all play COD4 and WAW, most of us have just purchased this and the fact we can't chatter amongst ourselves is a pain in the backside, screeching kids, moaning americans, foreign languages. They all have the right to be there but we should be able to chatter amongths ourselves, the language can get quite coarse sometimes too but as i was only ourselves no one would be offended.
The game is great but I really think that they have dropped the ball here because of one or two cheats they are punishing the masses. Sometimes we would chatter about work realted stuff, we don't want people hearing that and people don't want to hear it either. we won't play this for too long me thinks, back to COD4. As always it isn't just the game but the fun you can have with your mates whilst playing it.
