 JORGE GOUVEIA says:
Are you being served ?, Love thy neighbour , Dad's army , The dinner ladies , Blackadder , Only fools and horses , On the buses , Yes Minister/Prime minister , Mind your language , George and Mildred , Bless this house , Bread , Doc Martin . Keeping up appearances , As time goes by , Faulty Towers , The vicar of Dibley , One foot in the grave , Good night sweetheart , Rumpole of the Bailey .Of the above I would choose George and Mildred as the best ever

 The Pry says:
It's difficult to choose only one as there have been so many different and yet excellent sitcoms - however, for its superb writing and quintessential 'Britishness' I would nominate Dad's Army which has been around for over 40 years and still makes me laugh.

I find it difficult to choose between "George & Mildred", "Fawlty Towers" and "Keeping up appearances".
I also enjoyed watching "Absolutely Fabulous", "Some mother do 'ave 'em" and (some episodes of) "Mr. Bean".

:)

I haven't seen many of those listed by Jorge Gouveia. My absolute best, I think, is Dad's Army; other favourites include Porridge, Yes Minister, early Blackadder, Cold Feet.

 David Rowland says:
I must put in a vote for Porridge as it hasn't been mentioned yet but my own particular favourite was Steptoe & Son. Just the right mix of comedy and pathos and some brilliant acting from the two leads.

I have seen and own the entire set of PORRIDGE , on dvd , and must admit that I had omitted it , not because it was not worth the mention but I forgot .How ? I thoroughly enjoyed the film as well . I have not seen any " Steptoe & Son "

Hancocks Half Hour is brilliant and Chelmsford 123 (though haven't seen it for years so might just be nostalgia!)

You have got to watch it! There is absolutley nothing else like it! Brilliantly funny and Michael Crawford did all his own stunts. I hope you get a chance to see it.

I love Goodnight Sweetheart so i'd say that is my favorite (not necessarily the best, just my fave.) Also so 'Till Death us do Part, In sickness and in Health, Only Fools and Bottom.
