 Mark Kibble says:
I know, I know, its a long way off, but is it .... first we need to know where, when and how many ... who's interested, who's not, are we sticking to days out or what would be the response to a long weekend.

As for locations, do we need to head for the coast? are there any inland destinations that help to generate that 'holiday/day out atmosphere?

Some of the locations that have been mentioned already for 2010 are :-

Glastonbudget 2010 which takes place at Turnpost Farm, Wymeswold, Leicestershire on the 28th, 29th and 30th of May 2010

Towersey Festival, Oxfordshire, August?

To get the ball rolling my suggestion woulds be to plan any outings between April and early October, excluding bank holiday weekends. An early return to Weston for the day, then a weekender somewhere and finish off with a late season day out either at Stratford upon Avon or London (near Hampton Court maybe so that family that doesn't want to stay in pub have somewhere to go).

Please feel free to post your suggestions (rude ones excepted) and we'll do our best to check out feasibility.

Obviously Mark I would want a weekend or at least an overnight stop due to travel and will attend anywhere within reason (Dorset/Cornwall/Stratford upon Haven)
best bones.

As I suggested over on t'other thread (wink wink), I can't see why we shouldn't have at least one other meet up THIS year, maybe linked to Guy Fawkes or Christmas, or even my birthday (October 8th, and I don't happen to possess a Rolls Royce Corniche at the moment, if you're racking your brains for something suitable). Not that the date has to correspond too exactly to the 'theme'; if we say it's Christmas, it's Christmas! Rents for cottages, etc are cheaper off peak as well, so that would at least mean people could drink without worrying about getting home! What does the larger world of posteurs think?
Love.

Now Peter thats a good idea for the northern meet up, a full weekend of blues and beer, and I could still manage another down south later in the year. Is it the 2nd to 4th April next year?
Best bones

Having seen all of the difficulties experienced while searching out accomodation for the ill fated Cotswolds weekend I have checked out guest house locations in Stratford (cottages prices are again a tad steep) Linhill guest house has in addition to its double rooms, one single and four twins @ £28 per person per night B & B (off season).

http://www.linhillguesthouse.co.uk for details, no problems with group bookings.

Five minutes from town centre.

Glad to see the beginnings of a local northern meet up taking shape, nice one, I may well be there myself.

Pubs are crying out for business at the moment. I reckon if we found a pub somewhere that suited us all location-wise and with rooms above, we could arrange for a music night. The benefit for the landlord would be me providing all the equipment and DJing for free and you lot all drinking loads of wallop. Plus if we block booked a few rooms, He/She would be quids in. Obviously we could all provide some music, which I would be happy to play and we could sell it as a 60's/70's music night with a few obvious hits and some Tamla and Ska thrown in to keep the locals happy.

Whatchallthink?

Not sure when Easter is next yea, just thought it was kinda mid-way for all and plenty of good music.
You can either buy tikets for the main hall or enjoy the free shows in many pubs round and about,
My problem is that t'other half is a teacher and school hols don't always fall at Easter.
As I am a definite danger to myself when out and about solo ( which can also place others in certain amount of jeopardy) I can see months of arguments if i tried to go it alone.
If easter is dates mentioned, should be able to do the Sat-Sun at least though

Peter, The Easter Bank Holiday and the school Easter break are two different things unfortunately.

And in keeping with the spirit of these threads, it has to be Beatles or prog night........

 Schizoid Mark says:
Do we really need to have the Jocks down? It would only end up like the scene in Trainspotting where Begbie glasses someone.
As I missed Weston, I will make sure I attend wherever it is...although my days of festivals and outdoor gigs is truly gone forever. On a different note, may I also invite any postee who visits London to contact me through these pages and I'd be more than happy to meet up for a pint or three!

Peter I was already intending to do the Blues festival next year so to see you Saturday and Sunday (if we're still speaking) would be no problem.
Best bones.

Of course C. I love a bit of banter with you guys. Just to slightly change the subject again...my favourite comic is Frankie Boyle, I don't know if you remember his Diana joke on t.v. a few months back? Outrageous!! Check it out at:

Outrageous and then some. He's playing Dunfermline Alhambra shortly. They keep adding extra nights and they sell out in minutes....

Check out this newly (on-going) renovated venue

MC, that sounds like a great idea to me, I'm really surprised no-one else has answered your post, even if only to say 'no', but I can't see a down side really (apart from possible cost of rooms, and that could presumably be favourably negotiated in light of the increased takings at no cost to the publican). It also solves that old problem of people not being able to drink, but without meaning a stay of several days that renting a cottage would necessitate, which might be too long for some. We could even make it a Christmas Party, or Guy Fawkes (or my birthday), as I suggested above, though not having to be THAT close to the right date (I still don't have that Corniche, incidentally!). Come on, everyone else, what do you reckon? This sounds next best to perfect to me, if it's do-able.
Love.

Not absolutely confirmed for it B.O.F. especially as new pup takes a long time to mature, but I will be trying and hoping to get there,.
usually get a pass to the main events at the Mechanics which is easier for me to cope with than crowded pub.
Anyway hopefully we'll both make it and meet up. Will Mrs B.O.F. be in attendance.

Peter, I think he means we sell the evening (to the publican and the locals) as a Sixties/Seventies Disco, not that we make a CD of the stuff he's going to play and sell that! Unless you were being funny, in which case I apologise for not understanding you. Still don't understand why no-one is responding to this idea!
Love.
