Basically as the title says - a list would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Paul Bullock says:
Unfortunately David you won't find a book devoted to this topic, but if you are reading academically then you will need to look everywhere. I suggest starting with the Economist (there is an article about her and Europe from about 1990 called Thatcher v Europe) then go on to periodicals. Its the only way to separate the wheat from the chaff in any efficient form.
If you are just reading for pleasure then you are slightly stuck looking for books specifically on this topic, as it comes up in different parts of her reign and are quite separate. Have you read much of the biographical work about her? There will always be hints about what she did (strengthened the alliance with USA, she hated further European integration etc) but you must remember that the authors cannot be too blatant so look to infer real meanings. I understand that you want to avoid the 'how Thatcher changed britain' issue which is well documented but you may have to suffer skimming over it in order to get the bits you need, find something that is quite chronologically written and jump through it (Campbell is probably the best, if a bit soft on her failings). However, there is a way around reading the whole of Campbell's biography and just getting what you would like: If i remember rightly the seminar studies in history book was good for me when i studied her: Britain Under Thatcher (Seminar Studies In History) (Paperback) by Dr Anthony Seldon (Author), Daniel Collings (Author) that has a section on her 'crusade against europe'. this is a good introduction and will lead on well to the other good text i wanted to highlight: Thatcher and Thatcherism, Eric J Evans. there are sections called Thatcher Abroad which will cover the topics you will want quite comprehensively. however, i would read them in that order. Evans is not the easiest of bedtime reads. hope that helps Paul NB, the 2nd edition Evans has expanded foreign policy work according to an academic review. thats 2003 instead of 1997. that might help, i don't know, i don't have the 2nd edition.

"In Pursuit of British Interests: Reflections on Foreign Policy Under Margaret Thatcher and John Major" by Sir Percy Cradock. Cradock was Thatcher's foreign policy advisor from 1984.

P. F. Darlington says:
Better to view this subject through the eyes of others such as President Raegan, very positive obviously, the Russians also strangely positive. European leaders, obviously not.
S.America - depends on the country - Chile positive - Argentine not. Brasil, I found to be positive all the years I was there. While she was there everyone had an opinion, Gordon Brown ? A worldwide loser and nonentity. Squanderer of oppportunity - make a good book title.

Mr. S. Ellis says:
The Falklands Play (DVD)
The Ploughmans Lunch (DVD) Razor's Edge (book) All are very interesting angles of Thatcher.

Llywarch says:
Start domestically with Simon Jenkins' excoriating and magnificent "Accountable to None" and extrapolate from there - the way the foreign policy shadowed the mendacities of the domestic is palpable and fascinating.

I think you could to a lot worst than look at the latest edition of Andrew Gamble's Britain in Decline.

While you're looking, an interesting contrast to Thatcherism might be "Jordan:A whole new World" the best seller commentary by Katie Price.

Paul Latham says:
I would also recommend Jordan's oeuvre as I believe that the 3 volumes (so far) are truly Proustian in their depiction of 'Cool Britannia' to stand alongside the aforementioned author's dissection of Belle Epoque France.

Liammons says:
Yes when one compares Thatcher to twittering moron Cherie Blair, or the insipid 'Jordan' the Iron Lady becomes rather appealing as a female role model in society.

My book, 'British foreign policy since 1870', puts Thatcher in context, in the long, ugly decline of capitalism and its empire.

I found the BBC Eyewitness audio book from the 1980s very informative about Thatcher "Eyewitness, the 1980s (BBC Eyewitness)" However, as the title suggests, it's more of an account rather than an assessment of her impact. None the less a good listen.

Any of the Steve Bell yearbooks from the years when Attilla the Hen clucked the place up good and proper.

There's one called 'The Thatcher Phenomenon'. Though I found it in a charity shop.

A Nobody says:
Books about Thatcher's impact on Britain...?
Aren't there treatises concerning an "Iron Maiden"...? Something about an intractable, stubborn bit of ironmongery trundling piggishly along pig iron rails often given aggressive female names like "Boudica"?
