Although my screen has only 1 small scratch I have wondered about using a protector. There are films, rigid plastic and glass available. Some are quite expensive. Can anyone throw some light on the subject please - good or bad?
I wouldn't disagree with that sentiment. I'm not trying to save tuppence ha'penny; I'd rather fork out for a good one than waste money on rubbish. However, the Sony type is polycarbonate (I think it clips on) and I wonder how long it will remain scratch free; does it ping off due to catching clothing, say; and does it interfere with spectacles? Some are glass and therefore harder but I fear if they did break they would scratch the screen. Are the film type any good if you change them regularly? I can imagine they could trap air pockets and so on
No scratches even though I have the camera hanging around my neck with the LCD rubbing on my coat etc. Tight fit, impossible to catch and pull off IMO. No idea about specs. I bought one for my A200 and liked it enough to get one with my new A700. Third-party may be as good, but I don't care after spending ££££ on my equipment ;)
I bought a clip on Sony protector for my A700 and a stick on Sony protector film for my A200. Of the two I think I prefer the stick on type in use but I like the idea of being able to unclip the rigid one. In point of fact the A200 screen was still unmarked despite 8 months of use.
