 The Liquidator says:
I am begging somebody to please tell this clearly delusional pompous tw*t that he is NOT Scott Walker, neither will he ever come within 10 million billion zillion light years of being in the great man's league.

Who the f*** is buying his music? My gut instinct tells me that there are guilty ones within the Amazon Fellowship. Come on, own up.

 Martin says:
Not me, that's for sure. Who the f*ck is he, anyway? Never heard of him. Sounds more like a college lecturer.

 M. I. R. Clarke says:
em, sorry LiquidHater - it's a fair cop - i bought Cole's Corner
sorry
i suppose you were bound to find out sooner or later
it's ok - he has an interesting voice and strange retro sound (hard to place) - quite laid back
maybe he does sound like a college lecturer
no, he's not Scott Walker - perhaps a bit shorter
if he claims he's Scott Walker there's no excuse !
have only played the CD a handful of times - probably not a keeper

Guilty as charged, m'lud. I bought both Coles Corner and Lady's Bridge and I've recently downloaded his latest album. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan but I play his stuff occasionally and find it OK. I can't see any similarity with Scott Walker though.

 W.T.A says:
I used to work in a bookstore that would play Cole's Corner on a loop. I HATED that freakin' album and loathed Mr. Hawley as a result. However, I always get a pang of nostalgia for that ol' place whenever I hear a song from that album. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I keep thinking I may just purchase that album. Heck, Liquidator- you just made up my mind for me. Amazon marketplace- here I come!!!

 Toffeeman says:
I bought Coles Corner. I haven't bought anything else as it seems to be very similar. I thought more Chris Isaak than Scott Walker (and certainly not recent Scott Walker).

 Martin says:
What's wrong with Echo and The Bunnymen? Moff, where were you in those dark days of the early 80s?

Posted on 10 Nov 2009 20:53 GMT
 Moff says:
I wouldn't classify the early 80's as dark, Martin. Now the mid 80's......that was truly the dark ages. Now where did I put that vintage American overcoat!? Hair gel anyone?

In reply to an earlier post on 10 Nov 2009 20:58 GMT
 Martin says:
The whole of that particular decade left me in the shade, Moff!

 Moff says:
Just checked out Richard Hawley on youtube as I'd never heard of him. Watched the Coles Corner vid (its not for me) and it left me totally baffled. It shows him strumming his guitar throughout the vid but I can't hear any guitar! Are my ears totally shot to bits due to too many gigs? Are my computer speakers worse than I thought? Am I missing something?

In reply to an earlier post on 11 Nov 2009 13:07 GMT
 Martin says:
Possibly, probably and no.
