Quasimode. Jazz musicians from Japan recording with Sonar Kollektiv. If you haven't already - make sure you listen to them. Outstanding jazz - listen to ''Land of Freedom'' and ''Oneself Likeness'' (titles of full albums) - I don't think you will be disappointed.

Well, I have gone out on a limb and given myself the challenge of the Ganelin Trio. Amazing trio from Russia. If you like the Art Ensemble of Chicago then I guess you can take these guys too. Try Ancora Da Capo. Its certainly fascinating stuff, that draws you in with repeated listens. But don't expect swinging jazz.
I am also listening to Ornete Coleman too. Especially the early Atlantic albums such as 'Shape of Jazz to come' 'Change of the Century' and This is our music. All Jazz classics to my ears.

Always up for 'Getz and Gilberto'. I just love that album, but I'm also into Eliane Elias and think Melody Gardot 's latest offering is excellent. Is that sacreligious in the Jazz section???!!!

Mr. Dh Ward says:
the marcin wasilewski trio (who also accompany tomasz stanko ) came to the queens theatre, barnstaple in north devon on 17th march and gave us (maybe 100 people ) the best evening of original, imaginative jazz I have ever heard (and I have been listening to modern jazz for 60 years ). If you have never heard them, I urge you to get their latest cd - january.I understand they have been playing together since they were at school together ( in Poland ). And congratulations to the local organizer of the barnstaple jazz fraternity for getting this world-class group to a small town like barnstaple. And by the way, they also had Curtis Stigers there shortly afterwards ! Good wishes to all jazz lovers- David Ward

I am very into the new cd by Nicolas Meier-Silence Talks, this features the brilliant sax work by Gilad Atzmon, but that's not to in anyway overshadow the excellent playing from Nicholas and band.
On the drums we have the master percussionist Asaf Sirkis and brilliant bass work from Tom Mason, give this one a go i am sure if you enjoy jazz/klezmer -world music you won't go wrong. You can get this on Amazon on the naim lable

Sex Mob, pleasure to feel and recognise familiar links taken onward, plus Screaming Headless Torso's.
Well there we go, so much to hear and miss, just such relief some still getting that discovery of the flawed masters past, and the new adventurers doing their take. Sonny Rollins at Nice this year, new pretenders , there is a mountain to climb. Nikica Gilica, yes, one blow away, and if not for Mingus on the make, we would all have lost out .
