And why Amazon hasn't got the simple decency to give us Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing or Foreign people this information. How hard can it get !! And this goes on year, after year, after year, after year. You don't give a damn do you
I couldn't agree more, I've sent my comments about this to Amazone several times, getting only blablabla as an answer. So I say too: How hard can it get???
I think at least English H-O-H subtitles should be a must for every DVD. And OF COURSE subtitles information should be a must for every product description.
There are english HOH subtitles on the DVDs of season 1&2, so my guess is it should be as well on this release. I'm going to buy season 3, too and I will confirm subtitles here when I get the DVDs in about two weeks.
and for us "foreigners" it would help a lot , if the informations about subtitles were included. Because not everyone is fluent in spoken english and I won't buy a dvd without the subtitles - I have made that mistake several times - Lise
Amazon is showing images of the front for many DVDs. Why not show images of the back too? With sufficient quality, it would be possible to figure out subtitles for most DVDs. Som boxes have information about subtitles at the bottom. In these cases you would have to show images of the bottom instead.
I agree with you. I find it is very frustrating, I WANT this Joanne Lumley Catwoman DVD and I have found out this NOT included the subtitles. I am so angry with the DVD company who sell the DVD dont included subtitles. I cant buy it. Joanna Lumley - Catwoman [DVD] [2009]
I can confirm now that "The Street - the complete series three" has english HOH subtitles - as same as the first two seasons. I found this discussion right under the product site of this DVD set, so I hope it will help some people who are looking for this information.
Hi there, I understand where you are coming from 100% as am deaf. However having emailed Amazon about this very matter this week I got a reply back the next day with an explanation of their practice with reference to giving out DVD information and a great to recommendation to visit www.dvd-subtitles.com. This website has all the information there but sadly does bring to light how many DVDs are without subtitles, especially this christmas's stand up comedians.. the disgrace lies with them I feel now, not amazon. Hope this has helped.
How much ponds are being wasted ? Just by being so rude to the customers, not giving them the information (subtitles). I think thousands and thousands of people each year go buy a (more expensive) product elsewhere, just to be sure.
I can get the same stuff in Holland for twice the price, that's the reason I buy here. But I rather buy sometimes more 'pricy' to be sure there are subtitles than to throw the dice and well... wait what Amazon will send me this time. Subtitles, no subtitles, who cares. Amazon. uk doesn't. And it's no problem for me but my girlfriend and deaf father depend on this information. No fun watching a movie when they cannot understand a word what is said (for different reasons) Pretty rude and anti-social of Amazon when you think about it. But they don't care For it goes on, year after year, after year, after year
How much money do they lose each year I ask myself ?
I purchase British DVDs all the time. As you have noted, some have subtitles, some do not. Let me know if you're considering a particular title, and if I have it, I can confirm subtitles or lack of subtitles for you.
Great, well here goes, how about ' Cracker', does this have sub-titles. I'm thinking of buying the complete set as I missed some of the episodes first time around, and my husband has a lot of difficulty understanding dialogue, especially with the volume of the background music on some of the stuff put out on DVD.
