Hi, I'm also a fan of Jodi Picoult- it's difficult to find writers in a similar vein to her but I've recently read 'Sleep Toward Heaven' by Amanda Eyre Ward and it was quite a gritty subject beautifully written. I also enjoy Anita Shreve books- 'Testimony' might be a good one to try if you've never read any of hers before- check out the summary and see if you think it might interest you, but they're all excellent novels. Hope this helps! :)

You might like Luanne Rice, Barbara Delinsky and Kristin Hannah.
However, try these sites www.literature-map.com You type in the name of the author and it comes up with a web of similar authors. Those nearest your author are the nearest in type. Also, www.bookarmy.com/similar Scroll down the page after typing in your author and it gives similar authors. They listed the following:- Elizabeth Berg Alice Hoffman Anita Shreve Sue Monk Kidd Ann Pratchett Nicholas Sparks Tracy Chevalier Maeve Binchy Susan Lewis Douglas Kennedy Sarah Dessen Audrey Niffenegger Elizabeth Flock Barbara Delinsky Kristin Hannah Try The Coast Road for Barbara Delinsky and Lake News. For Kristin Hannah try Firefly Lane and Magic Hour. Luanne Rice is pretty prolific and I've liked most, but not all, of hers.

Can't recommend any thing quite like Jodi Picoult, but you're obviously a perceptive and intelligent reader. I therefore think you may really enjoy 'Education, Edukation, Edukashun,' by James Rainsford. I read it at one sitting. Literally couldn't put it down. It was the most entertaining book I've read in years. You can read the reviews here: Education, Edukation, Edukashun
