I don't get paid for my sets, I'm still playing to freinds and family in 'the house' ( pardon the pun, couldn't resist that ). techno and hard house does it for me, but you can't beat the old piano tunes from early nineties.

I definitely get paid for my work, but I don't touch anything 'housey' too boring and too many pretend DJ's with their BPM machines........yawn! Mixing breakbeat, funk and ska with rock.......now that takes thought and timing.

I quite like Terry Wogan, and it's such a shame he's leaving the breakfast show again, especially considering who his replacement is going to be. I know he doesn't play much dance music but I love 'The Fight on Flab' and 'Pause for Thought' with Cat Stevens.

 Blastronaut says:
Does that make the rest of us pretenders then ?.

no m.c, I don't use a bpm, my decks don't even pretend to be that advanced. wouldn't mind one though, it'd save things getting broken when I screw a mix.

not heard any F S L stuff for years, but many moons ago it was the kind of music only really appreciated whilst under the influence of strong hallucigenics.

I'm a Dj aswell... a amateur one... I usually play Trance... but sometimes I go to house.... very rare times I do both on the same set! :)

 Blastronaut says:
I reckon you can get away with throwing the odd trance tune into a hardhouse set and visa versa. call me a stick in the mud but i reckon the best trance tunes are the early ones like ' dreams ' and ' cherry moon ' by ' quench ' and ' house of house ' respectively. oakenfold use to play that sort of stuff in 93/94. i know i keep saying it but you can't beat the old stuff, nothing comes close nowadays.

I live in a house, spend my mornings in a trance, park my car in a garage and the garden's like a jungle.

For years I DJ'd - club soul, 80's dancehall and then when the clock hit 4am revival reggae /rare grooves - that was tre bit I looked forward to most. Mostly house parties. Can't lug all the equip round now so just do it for fun at home.

Think yourself lucky Martin; I live in the garage because the wife kicked me out because I wouldn't techno for an answer.

There's three or four early 90s tunes that I really need to get, but don't know the titles or artist. Odds are, S that you probably own or at least could name them. I could maybe give a reasonable description of a couple of them; if you or anyone else could ' name that tune ' it would be much appreciated.

i'll give it a go as well mate but if you get stuck here there are thousands of people on discogs that will help u out.

Nice one numpt, I'll give this a try then. First tune - starts off sounding like Queens ' bohemian rhapsody ' for about 30 secs, then some dude shouts something like ' put on the madness ', and the proper tune kicks in. It's an old fasion piano tune that I'm not sure how to categorize, though it sounds a little like italian house. I know it's a pretty vague description but it's best I could do.

Next tune - starts off sounding like a radio being tuned in which then goes into part of a song where someone sings ' I did it my way ', then the tune kicks in. I know that's not much to go on but surely there's not many tunes that have that at the beginning.
