Hi
Can anyone recommend Indian cookey books which list nutritional information please? I currently have - and love - Healthy Indian Cooking by Shehzad Husain, Manisha Kanani - among others, and BBC's handy good food books.
Any other suggestions would be gratefully received!
Thanks

I have the indian made easy cook books by the bbc. I have really enjoyed all the recipies I have tried. My Indian husband has said that the recipies taste like mums. Praise indeed, especially as she used to cook in an award winning Indian Restaurant. Although I think I have always slightly increased the quantities of the dried spices from the amounts in the book. I think the last two books by the author are better than the first.
Just tried the paneer and the spinich recipies and they were delicious.

Without doubt, Madhur Jaffrey 'Curry Bible' is a work of genius. I've never seen a better book on the subject of curry cookery and I lived and worked in Mumbai for a time! Don't know about the nutritional information part...the book alone justifies the investment in it! Buy it, it is a belter! Madhur Jaffrey's Ultimate Curry Bible

Without a doubt, 50 Great Curries of India by Camellia Panjabi. I bought this book in India about 6 years ago and have used it regularly ever since, despite having bought many other Indian cookery books since then. I'm not a great fan of Madhur Jaffrey, her recipes are a bit too Westernised for my taste but it depends on what you want.

I agree with Sandra. Camellia Panjabi's book has transformed my ideas about Indian food. The recipes are great (though often the kind of gourmet thing you wouldn't prepare on a regular basis) but the real beauty is in the discussion of ingredients and their role in Indian cookery that comes before the recipe section. The accompaniments recipes (I am now eating yellow moong dal several times a week because it's so tasty and easy to put together!) are great too, as is the attention to regional details.

I agree, everything that I have cooked from Madhur Jaffreys' 'Curry Bilble' has been brilliant, especially the Singapore-Style Prawn Curry on page 122! Highly recommend it.

Not sure which books have the nutritional information that you need, but there are various places to get the help that you need for this, as far as books my favourites are;
50 great curries of india and the curry secret; both brilliant in their own way.
Just a chefs opinion

I would firmly agree 100% with this comment. I have owned the book for 6 years and the recipies are sublime and all authentic. It is THE curry bible without doubt and is worth every penny. Don't be fooled by flashy books with nice photos, this book has a wealth of good recipies

Try to get a copy of Cooking with Khalid: From "Look North".
Khalid Aziz was a presenter on Look North, in the 70s I think it was?
It's been out of print for years, but I still use it for all my Indian cookery.
- just had a look - 13pence on Amazon - secondhand!
