I wish that this would be issued in DVD form. It wasn't even released on VHS. The same can be said about the Don Camillo series with Brian Blessed.

I would love to see Clochemerle on DVD too, but I'm not sure a childrens forum is the right place for this discussion. I assume we're discussing the 1972 Galton & Simpson adaptation starring Roy Dotrice et al.

I have seen on an thread that the reason this was never released on VHS or DVD is that there is no soundtrack for some of the episodes.
it would appear that the sound track was cleared but not the video when the BEEB was hacking away at their back catalogue to save on video tape which was expensive at the time to record onto. Nobody at the time would have known that VHS or DVD would be available so no thought was given to wiping the tapes. How true this i dont know.

Quite right London Rat. This is no place for a disussion about a public lavatory, but seriously, this tale is surely one which deserves to be shown again, such a waste if it isn't. Roy Dotrice and Wendy Hiller are legion in their parts. I am reading the book again and I can just see those sundrenched vinyards of Beaujolais. Ah me!! I'm getting quite carried away at the thought. Back to reality now though.

Oh dear a link to the said website would indicate that this is a pirate copy.
I quote from their website: ALL SHOWS PURCHASED WILL BE SUPPLIED ON PLAIN DISCS IN PLASTIC-WALLETS. ARTWORK IS NOT POSSIBLE AS EACH SHOW HAS NEVER BEEN COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE. Even worse is this link is on the Amazon website. Buyer be ware.
