My new book for 9-12 year olds is set in 1972. It is about a girl called Isabel Williams who thinks she is Isambard Kingdom Brunel reincarnated! As such she knows more about physics and engineering than her teachers do. 'Is' is published by Parthian next year on April 9 - appropriately Isambard Kingdom Brunel's birthday! Kind regards, Derek Webb Is

I'm looking for a children's book from 1966 approx about children who go to Cumbria (NOT Arthur Ransome) to stay. Their train breaks down on Shap Fell in deep snow and they hike to a farm where they're staying. Maybe they were evacuees ????? Lots of descriptive stuff about the Lake District, lots of birdwatching, during various seasons. One day they went to Sprinkling Tarn.... has anyone got a clue?

These sound like the Fell Farm books by Marjorie Lloyd, set in the 1950s. They revolve around two sets of teenage twins and a little sister, who spend their holidays at High Arnside Farm near Skelwith Bridge, and have old-fashioned low-key adventures - hiking, camping, birdwatching etc. There are three: Fell Farm Holiday, Fell Farm for Christmas and Fell Farm Campers. They're a great read.

I am writing a sequence set in 1969 on the North East coast. You'd be welcome to read a draft.
