I felt I needed to start this discussion after hearing many people say that they really enjoy reading and eating chocolate at the same time. It seems to be bliss for them.

I wondered what others thought about this? I have never actually tried it but I don't think I could. I'd be absolutely terrified of getting it on the pages and then it melting. Am I missing out?

 Mark Cheshire says:
Chocolate is the companion for a classic DVD; a bedside lamp is the accomplice for a book.

I prefer a beer with my book...and then another beer with my book. By the time I remember the chocolate I forget that I was reading.

Shouldn't that be Reading and Biscuits?

Sitting in your garden on a sunny day, reading a good book, goes well with a nice cold drink. Not a handful of melted chocolate, which then attracts ants/various other insects. o_o How can I enjoy my paranormal romance whilst being attacked by bees?

But are you sure that the bees are attacking you? Might they be trying to put a sting in the tale of your spirited romance.

According to Wiki, Chocolate is made from fermented cacao beans which have their shells removed, ground, liquified, then processed into cocoa solids and cocoa butter. According to Wiki, Reading is a large town in England, located at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, midway between London and Swindon off the M4 motorway.

Not quite sure what they can have in common ;-)

I dont know about reading and eating chocolate, but I certainly very much enjoy drinking red wine and eating chocolate! I usually read books that totally absorb all my attention and eating and drinking detract from that experience! I would add that dark choc goes best with red wine!!?

Don't you mean 'does anyone enjoy reading while eating a bar of: FAT (ave. 43%); SUGAR; MILK; AMMONIUM PHOSPHATIDES; COCOA MASS; COCOA BUTTER; MALT EXTRACT; VANILLAN; VARIOUS UNSPECIFIED ARTIFICIAL CHEMICAL FLAVOURINGS.' ?

Mmmmmmm.

The best accompaniment to a classic DVD is a cat to cuddle.

I mostly read in bed until I fall asleep, and although I like eating chocolate while reading, it means my teeth don't get cleaned of the chocolate before the next morning. I'm beginning to prefer a big glass of chocolate milk instead :P

Agree wholeheartedly with Mark Cheshire, a good book and a bedside lamp. Scrumptious!

Guess I understand it, but I personally love a large pint glass of coke with ice, and a plate of shortbread buscuits :)

Maybe you should stick with Minstrels the first time, as they melt in your mouth not in your hand...

A lovely hot bath, a bar of Bournville,a glass or three of red wine and a good book.
Heaven. (Although I can't always remember what I've read the next day!!!)

 Lil' Miss Big says:
A nice good read for me would be: a large hot mug of coffee or hot chocolate (preferably Nescafe as they have many flavours like latte and vanilla, caramel is pretty good too!), a bedside lamp, and a few scented candles to really relax u, that normally does the trick for me. Oh, and a book too! How can I forget!
