As part of a new training programme in my company I tried several references for preparing for my APMP qualification. This was by far the best.

APM BoK is a good starting point and reference.APM Body of Knowledge

APMP Primer provides good additional material and some exam guidance. An APMP Primer

This book though is a one stop shop that is a good reference, provides additional material, and also provides a logical training approach with exam guidance.

My only comment is that the book is a bit pricey, however the return on investment for me was worth it, especially as it links to some free web content and support.

I suggest ignore the other books and buy this one, or if you are feeling rich buy them all as having the cross reference has allowed me to understand the subjects more deeply.

Happy studying.

Rich

I used this book to pass my APMP exam without any classroom training. You need to make sure that you attempt all quick quizzes for all sections and listen to the Parallel Project Training podcasts. I also used APM Body of Knowledge (5th edition) and Exam forum on the parallelprojecttraining website.
What makes this book different is that it's written by project management practitioners rather than academics. Paul and John's years of PM experience clearly reflects thru examples provided in each section. They just nicely walk you through a project lifecycle.

All in all it is a very well written, thought out book - It has definitely improved my general project management skills.
I recommend it highly.
