Disappointed with TP-LInk this time
on 9 March 2014
I have already installed in my house 2 TP-Link 200Mb connectors and they were easy to set up and work great. I always find TP-Link products really are PnP and highly compatible with other brands on the network.
These were great looking, similar to the slower ones I already had just slightly chunkier and just as easy to pair up, not only wit themselves but with existing ones already on the network. Speeds were good, however, there were 2 issues I found that troubled me:
1. They do get quite hot. within only 20 mins of being plugged in, they were getting very warm indeed. This worries me. As they will be plugged in 24/7 and I have heard horror stories of electrical equipment getting warm and overheating in the absence of its owner and causing fires or electrical problems.
2. There was a constant high pitches squealing sound coming from them. Very subtle but as one of them was in my bedroom to accommodate my laptop when I work in there, I did not like this. Very annoying.
I am afraid I ended up unplugging and may only use them in times of great need. The 200Mb ones are doing a grand job and I see no benefit to replacing them with these.
Quite disappointed on the whole.
