It's All About The Smoke.............

There are 'smoked' flavours and then there are burnt and this falls closely towards the latter. Yes, some people will, and clearly do love it, but for the rest of us you need to be very careful if the smell of burnt wood is not your thing, as the taste will certainly miss you. This seems to have picked a good deal of the 'burnt oak casks' it has been stored in, but for my palate just not for the better.
The worst part? There is a REALLY good whiskey in there, just one that is lost in that smell of burnt wood and then the first 'hit' of the same when you taste. What a shame.
It does taste like something left over from a house fire. Slowly getting through it, but after a few glasses it has gone to the back of the cupboard and I might try to use it more as a mixer.
