I purchased these a few weeks ago and even after allowing a couple of weeks to bed in they don't perform any better than my the 2 1/2 year old originals. The finish is dull compared with the original bright chrome and the box is labelled Norelco which is the USA division of Philips. The packaging recommends to replace the head every year. Philips Europe recommend every 2 years. Also the printing on some of the internal papers was not of the highest quality. I have finished up buying a a new RQ11 series razor at a good price which shaves much closer and smoother. All in all I have my doubts about the quality/authenticity of this product.

I bought this as one of the springs had broken within the head. It now works just as new. I never noticed how blunt my razor had become.Well recommended as it comes as a whole head unit and you're not mucking about with fiddly parts.

I use Phillips constantly.
It suits my needs.
I would recommend it to dry shave users.
The product arrived in good time and in good order.

Doesn't feel as substantial as the original head, but gives a good close shave and thus can't really be faulted.

I know, I sound like Victor Meldrew, but I feel justified. I totally agree with M.P.M Stewart; Philips pricing is ridiculous, but I just about justified circa twenty five pounds for a head that is meant to give good performance for two years.
Firstly, my point of view on pricing is based on the point of view of sustainability. I personally find it disgusting that a large company try to sell a replacement part with such a high premium which I believe will make many people consider throwing away the shaver and buying a new product - which is what I was considering as I bought the 'whole package' for around £80-£90. From the point of view of marketing, Philips must employee Numptees. This can only damage their reputation and ultimately sales.
Secondly, and perhaps more important to those who do not consider the cost to be prohibitive, I ordered the replacement head on the basis it would last two years giving good performance. This is shown on the packaging on the picture and also within the Amazon product description;
"Change heads every 2 years for best results"
The replacement head I received came in a box branded "Philips NORELCO". I didn't notice this at first, but looked at it more closely when I tried the head and found it wasn't as 'smooth' as my ageing original. That combined with the impression that my neck was being scathed made me suspicious about the authenticity. A quick internet search indicates that Norelco may be part of Philips, although the results appeared to be US based. I am still dubious as I feel the replacement is not as well engineered as the original but it looks to be mechanically correct – ie I would guess to be too complex to bother counterfeiting, but who knows!
And so top the my biggest problem …the NORELCO box has the following printed in place of the two year statement;
“Change heads every 12 months for best results”
This is why I am REALLY outraged. I feel I have been conned. This implies it is lesser quality and ‘they’ now expect us to pay almost fifty pounds for two years, which is more expensive than the Philips price that I had issue with.
NB I was also surprised that, even considering the perceived reduced price, it is only a replacement for the top section of the head ie it does not come with the back which connects to the main shaver unit.
Luckily Amazon have accepted my complaint and refunded me. It is being returned today.

I will continue with my original head and will probably buy an alternative brand in the near future. I hate being part of the throwaway society, but I don’t think I have much choice.

I certainly would NOT recommend this product, but perhaps other sellers sell the Philips original and you may want to risk it.

I was very pleased at how quickly this came through. At first I was slightly concerned to see the Norelco sticker on the product and suspected that this meant it was not an original Philipls OEM product. On checking however, I discovered that Norelcois, to quote Wikipedia "Norelco is the American brand name for electric shavers and other personal care products made by the Consumer Lifestyle division of Philips". So thanks to Amazon it was around £15 cheaper than Philips and arrived really quickly.
IMPORTANT NOTE - If, like me, your shaver head breaks, be sure NOT to throw the whole head unit away as this itel replaces just the cutter holder that you see in the picture on the box (i.e. the top part with the 3 cutter wheels ) and not the whole shaver head unit that it clips on to. Happy shaving!

Used the item twice, noisy and scratched my skin. Released casing for cleaning and inspection found metal poking through gap and a blade cover ring missing which may account for the noise. Poor product.

When item arrived it had Philips 'Norelco' written on the box. Am not sure if this shaving head is of the same quality as the plain 'Philips' branded original item. They look the same but doesn't seem to shave as well as the new shaving heads did when the shaver was new. It only seems to shave marginally better than the old shaving heads did. It might just be my impression, but does not appear quite as good as the original.

This is an excellent shaving system, providing an easy, smooth and close shave. Be warned, however, that (depending on your beard I suppose) you may have to replace the head every year. My original one lasted only 10 months before becoming noticeably less efficient.
