A perfectly decent alarm clock
on 17 October 2009
Just got this clock today, setting it up was easy as any other clock.
I really like the look and finish of this product, it's very stylish.
The clock face itself is quite dim even on the high setting, which is perfect for me.
I found it easy to read the time during the day, as long as the clock isn't placed in direct sunlight.
There is no mark on the radio tuning dial to let you know the selected frequency, I presumed it was in the middle of the dial and this seems to be correct, it means you're kind of fiddling around with the thing to tune the right channel first time around, especially if there are a few channels in close proximity to each other, not a major issue though.
The biggest gripe I have with this is the sound.
The radio sounds rubbish.
Given the high quality finish on this product, and the high quality I expect from Philips the radio is a let down.
It's fine for waking you up in the morning, and catching the news before you get out of bed, but if you're someone who wants to listen to the radio while lounging around your bedroom then this is not the product for you.
It sounds very tinny, like a cheap travel radio, the 5 year old 15 Euro alarm clock/CD/Radio it's replacing had a much better sound.
Having said that, we'll only be listening to it for 10 minutes each morning so that's not an issue.
So to summarise, I bought it for the look and the alarm, and they're fine for me, but if you want a decent sound, forget it.
