simplehuman compact dishrack, grey - KT1106

The compact dishrack is small enough to fit optimally in most standard sinks, completely freeing up counterspace, but still has the capacity to handle full-size plates. For countertop use, it has a swivel spout that rotates in any direction to drain water directly into the sink.

You wash, I'll dry

The dishrack has an innovative drainage system with a moveable stainless steel spout that keeps water flowing into the sink, not onto the countertop.

My kitchen is a long and narrow galley kitchen in a small mid-terrace Victorian house, with the combi-boiler over the drainer, so when I saw this compact dishrack, in black to match my worktops, I had to have it.

It was here before the ETA, and I just had to pull it out of the box and it was ready for use - no assembling, nothing. It is in a lovely shade of black, that is almost a mix of shiny and matt, and the cutlery drainer bit can be moved to any of the sides. I cannot believe how neat and compact it is, and it fits perfectly into the VERY small space (there's barely 12 inches between the drainer and the bottom of my boiler's boxed-in unit, and there's even space to spare)that I have, and now, there's no accumulation of suds or limescale.

Worth every penny I paid.

I was rather concerned about the poor review on the plates not stacking but the dishrack looked so right for my small kitchen. The plates stack but backwards, like my sister has always stacked plates anyway. An easy change to cope with and the design means that I can just keep stacking up and up and up. A great product and I am glad that I took the risk.

I am a fan of of Simple Human products, however, this product is not their their best creation. Yes it looks great, but it does have a few design shortcommigs. I would still buy one, but I hope Simple Human sort out the designs issues. (I wrote this in 2013, but am updating 2014 to give further points on how it works in real life).

I hope Simple Human make an updated version of this product, as the spout is a great idea.

SPOUT TOO SHORT - DOES NOT REACH SINK BOWL
------------------------------------------
I bought this sink drainer, as I wanted the water from the wet dishes to go straight to drain straight into in the sink. I did not want a puddle of water and to leave water limescale marks on my metal sink.

However, this is not possible, as my right hand kitchen tap obstructs the Simple Human dish rack. I can't get it close enough to the sink. The spout is too short. If you intend to keep the dish rack on the sink's drainer, you will very likely have this same problem. We now put a plate under the spout to catch the water. So not to impressed at this work around. I could let the water drop on the my metal sink's drainer board, but I don't want limescale, which is hard to remove...

I also prefer a long spout, as I don't want water from the sink to splash back into the drainer board (which might not be hygenic is washing meat...)

For some householder, it will not be a problem. For instance, if your taps are in the centre of your sink's 'bowl' rather then 'sink'. Or if you have a 1.5 or 2.0 bowl sink. Or if you decide to keep the dish rack on your kitchen worktop rather then the sink's drainer. You should also be okay, if you have a Belfast sink.

This dishrack is great as you can remove the rack and clean the tray properly (unlike some of the other dishracks I've had).

The dishrack is an excellent piece of Kitchen ware especially for kitchens that do not have proper draining boards. The good thing with this model is that the drainage spout under the drainage tray can rotate 360 degrees so no problem with the water pouring out everywhere.

A reall got piece of Kitchen Equipment most people should get one :-)

looks great, ideal for smaller households with limited space. drainage spout is an excellent idea. I even wash fruit in the unit with the water draining back into the sink through the spout.helps keep your draining board clean too...an excellent product & although quite expensive well worth the money in real terms.

There's really not much to this product, it holds your dishes and doesn't leave a puddle of water behind. Easy to move when necessary and is the perfect size for me. I've not come across any problems while using it in the past few months.

About 6 years ago we purchased an Ikea dual ceramic sink to put in our kitchen but we then had big problems getting a drainer to fit. Tried everywhere but to no avail. Then last week whilst in Taskers we noticed they where selling this drainer, had a look at it and thought maybe this will fit. So checked amazon and they being the cheapest ordered it.
Today it arrived and amazingly it fits perfect. Just cant understand why Ikea didnt ever make one to fit.
