I use garlic quite a lot in my cooking and, prior to buying this, I was using one of the traditional crushers that you squeeze. The problem with the squeeze ones is that they're quite difficult to clean, and all of the fibre of the garlic (which is the most nutritious part) is separated from the pulp and thrown away.
With this crusher, it's very quick and easy to use, you can clean it in two seconds, and you get the benefit of crushing the fibre along with the pulp.
The only reason that I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that you do tend to lose a bit of the garlic which stays stuck in the grooves of the crusher. It washes off easily in the sink, but it's not so easy to get all the garlic off (into your pan) before you wash it.
The price is a little steep, but when you consider that it'll never break or go rusty, it's a good investment for any cook. Also, it's useful for crushing ginger, lemongrass and chillies and I use the end to pound whole spices too.
