Considering this just for the dual-view feature? Then look elsewhere 20 Nov. 2013
By rob - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name: Black
This is a review of the dual-view rooCASE for the HD7. I'm honestly not too impressed with this case; I've had better tablet cases for less.

There are barely any dual-view case-stands for the Memo Pad, which is the main reason why I chose this case. Unlike many other tablet cases, which use a circular "roundabout hinge" to allow the tablet to be turned in the case, the dual-view feature on this case is powered by... Velcro. The Memo Pad goes into an inner sleeve with a felt-like backing, which in turn attaches to a large Velcro pad on the back of the case cover. This arrangement makes for a very thick total package which feels like carrying a VHS tape around to take back to Blockbuster.

Changing orientations is a two-handed operation which requires some degree of fussing about to get the tablet and container sleeve straight enough on the Velcro to be successfully held open against the "resistance dunes" on the case bottom. Even when you've got it straight enough, the case does not do a very good job of actually holding the tablet in the chosen position. It frequently slips to the next position or, worse, simply collapses open / backwards.

It's also fiddly to hold the case open for portrait / book-style reading in your hands. The case has a number of folds which make it harder than it ought to be to simply fold the case lid behind the tablet and hold the thing.

The inner sleeve doesn't fit the Memo Pad nearly as well as I'd like either (there's side-to-side slop which I can't seem to "dial out" and which jeopardizes the positioning of the cameras through the sleeve). It cannot really be used by itself in situations where a smaller / thinner case is desirable (or where the over-creased lid would get in the way of book-style usage) because of the vulnerable fabric on the "sticky" backing.

I would vastly prefer the "roundabout hinge" style of case, but so far I've yet to see one offered anywhere for the HD7. The best bet at this time for folks who need both orientations available, freestanding, would be to pick a better-fitting, regular landscape-orientation case and simply get a separate tablet stand for portrait viewing.

Better than you think 4 Oct. 2013

I was so impressed by all the positive feedback that I ordered the dual view model in black and it arrived 3 days later (yay!). I figured a lot of reviews were exaggerated but they're not. This case is sturdy with some heft, well crafted, and excellent value for the price. Everything fits together with custom-made snugness and all controls and ports are easily accessible. Adjust your tablet settings for use with a case, and it will wake and sleep as you open and close the cover, so you won't really use the power button very often. It even has a couple slots for extra sd cards w/ their adapters - designed so you can remove just the tiny card, leaving the adapter in the slot. Smart looking with quality design and materials. I'm very pleased.

roocase for asus memo pad 25 Oct. 2013
By Richard Kissinger - Published on Amazon.com

For the price it's an ok case. I feel now that i've used it a bit it feels a little weighty when your holding it a while with the cover on, but you can remove it from the outside cover to lessen the weight a bit. Another thing is the poor placement of the power and volume buttons, the case makes it a little tougher (if you have big fingers) for you to get to these buttons because they are set back on the device rather than on the side. Other than that I think overall it's nice case.

Perfect Case For Asus Memo Pad 7 HD ME-173 10 May 2014
By Lois O'Keefe - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name: Navy Verified Purchase
Fit perfectly, holes line up, various viewing configurations excellent. Use mostly out of the book holder & it still protects from drops.

When in the book folder, it's a little thick, but functional none the less. Turns on with cover open feature a big plus.

Overall, more than I expected for the price. Cheap pointer/pen included, but who cares for the money. Pointer does the job.

Would buy again & again from this vendor & mfg.

It works, but not convenient. 18 July 2014
By Gyorgy - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name: Navy Verified Purchase
The tablet can fit in the case and the automatic sleeping function works. It has a very disturbing smell, which has not disappeared after two weeks. It looks solid.

My main problems are that
(i) it makes the tablet very bulky,
(ii) no way to fix it in the closed position,
(iii) changing the direction is very uncomfortable and noisy due to the velcro

Summary: it works, but not convenient.
