What can I say. I've bought HP, Acer and a couple of other laptops in the past but this time I thought I'd buy a Sony, assuming Sony meant it would be great quality with great visuals and decent sound - as you'd expect from a Sony product.
Wrong on all counts.
Had I not been desperate to get on with some work, this wouldn't have stayed out of the box more than an hour.
Screen - annoying as you have to fiddle with the settings so much and never quite get it right. At first it was impossible to watch a DVD that had dark scenes in it, it was almost completely black. With a few tweaks it is a bit better but still not satisfactory but that's not what I bought it for - I did the DVD thing to test the screen. I never had to fiddle with the settings on a HP laptop screen or an Acer laptop screen... or, dare I say it, on a MacBook Pro.
Sound. Crap. Tinny. Pathetic. I get far better sound on a laptop that cost half as much. In fact, my daughter has a rather old Toshiba thing that blows away this brand new Sony. If you buy one of these, make sure you buy some decent headphones or speakers or forget about using sound for anywhere near accurate sound reproduction.
All in all - very disappointed. But I needed a PC for a few projects that I couldn't do (or hadn't yet learnt to do) on my Mac. As I said earlier, had I been able to waste a few days sending it back and getting something else, it would have been on a return bus to Amazon.
