Out of curiosity I bought Go Go Hamsters for my nieces and nephews after seeing an article on the Financial Times. They were a big success during Christmas. The children loved them and had a great time building ramps and tunnels with card boxes. I did not buy any of the accessories because the Hamsters ended up costing more than the "original market price" and I wanted...

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I bought 3 hamsters (not at the crazy amazon price!)gave one to a 5 yr old boy for his birthday. He was bored with it within minutes. It runs around making an odd noise and when it bumps into a wall it changes direction. You are supposed to be able to stroke the hamster but what this actually involves is pushing a button on it's...

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I bought 3 hamsters (not at the crazy amazon price!)gave one to a 5 yr old boy for his birthday. He was bored with it within minutes. It runs around making an odd noise and when it bumps into a wall it changes direction. You are supposed to be able to stroke the hamster but what this actually involves is pushing a button on it's head,which is far from realistic. Surely there must be better toys out there. I am convinced these are "the emperors new clothes" of the toy world so if you really must have one then my advice is to wait until after xmas when retailers won't be able to give them away and under no circumstances pay over the odds for them ! merry christmas.

This hamster craze will die out soon as they eat batteries and are a bit boring after a while. No good on carpets and a bit frustrating for younger kids. Amazon only have stock as they are four times the normal price and double that of most auction sites! Beware - if you spend too much on one you will be disappointed!

Out of curiosity I bought Go Go Hamsters for my nieces and nephews after seeing an article on the Financial Times. They were a big success during Christmas. The children loved them and had a great time building ramps and tunnels with card boxes. I did not buy any of the accessories because the Hamsters ended up costing more than the "original market price" and I wanted to check the children's reaction first.
They are cute. They are fun. Just have to be careful with the wheels and tell children that. Good that the manufacturer warns people about being careful with the wheels - especially when close to your hair.
I recommend.

Exellent fun for my two children but very heavy on the batteries usage. Still not sure if hamsters should moo though.

Bought 3 Go Go Hamsters for XMAS. Within minutes 1 was broken, about an hour later the 2nd broke. Fixed the first one as it was a button falling out inside. 2nd one can't be fixed as it's the gearbox inside to make the hamster move. As these toys are aimed at young children, they should actually be robust enough to be played with by children.
When we first got them out my kids thought they were great, but this wore off very quickly. There are much better toys out there, I would suggest avoiding these. Total rubbish.

Our youngest daughter (9 years old) thought that this toy looked the bees knees, and despite some discouragement went ahead, spending a reasonable amount of her hard saved pocket money. What a disappointment...!!!!! Took two grown ups to work out how the thing functioned, and then tried painfully to extract some entertainment value for an increasingly disappointed child. The hamster hardly functioned, made mooing sounds as reported elsewhere and seemed very complicated for a mobile phone and computer literate child to operate, and plainly was defective from the off! Would not really consider this a toy, and I doubt whether it would provide lasting interest, even if it worked properly. Not child - friendly IMHO.

Company have so far refused to offer to replace or refund a clearly defective "toy", so a very disappointing experience. Definitely NOT a recommendation. Poor!

We had two of these for Christmas and have had a lot of fun with them. We were lucky and managed to get a some of the play sets to go with them.
The little noises they make are really cute and how they run though their house, drive the car and use the wheel is really fun to watch.
A lot easier than a real hamster, no poop and no feeding, just a couple of batteries.
