ROTF Alternator?
This is one great figure and, as the review title suggests, is basically an Alternator for the movie line. Some may view this as a bad thing as many of the Alternator figures required a degree in engineering to transform, I've never seen this as a problem however. As far as I see it, a complex transformation generally means both alt and 'bot modes are of good standard...

difficult to transform
The problem with the toy is it is extremely difficult to transform from car to robot and back again, It took me 20 minutes to change from car to robot and then 30 minutes to change back. It's probably easier to complete the Rubik's cube.
My five year old son stands no chance of being able to do it.
My fear is because of the difficulty in transforming...

The problem with the toy is it is extremely difficult to transform from car to robot and back again, It took me 20 minutes to change from car to robot and then 30 minutes to change back. It's probably easier to complete the Rubik's cube.
My five year old son stands no chance of being able to do it.
My fear is because of the difficulty in transforming it will soon be broken from my son pulling at the bits.
The positive is it looks very good as a car and as good as a transformer.
It is aimed at the 4 years and up market, I think it is best for the older market rather than the younger, I'm sure they will be able to transform quicker than me but when you think that in the film they transform in seconds, you would expect this to do it in under a minute.

Aside from Leader class Optimus Prime, this is the best Revenge of the Fallen figure so far in my opinion. Better than the '07 movie 'Ultimate' Bumblebee by a long shot. Even the Sam Witwicky action figure is worth a mention as, apart from the rather glaikit (google it) facial expression, he's quite a cool little figure in his own right - there's quite a few standing / sitting posts on Bumblebee for him to peg onto, with some guns for him to man.
Overall highly recommended and bodes well for upcoming figures in the Human Alliance line.

I bought this for my 6 year old grandson and he loved it
It is tricky to transform initially but once you have got the knack it becomes much easier
Excellent purchase and very good value
Would recommend it for any young adventurous boy

Over the the 2 movie toy lines, Bumblebee has been released into toy form numerous time: in deluxe range there're the old Camero, the new Camero concept, the movie 2 preview version with a cannon right arm, the "Cannon version", then there're the various Legends range as well as repaints. Then there is the Movie version, loaded with electronics, "Ultimate Bumblebee".
But personally, this one surpass them all.
The Human Alliance line Bumblebee is essentially a up-scale version of the Deluxe Bumblebee to approximately 1/35th scale. But with the up-scaling, they manage to fit a lot of details that the deluxe versions couldn't: in car mode, detailed headlights and foglights, brake lights, numberplate, brand batches and even front seats, and reasonable representation of dashboard, and steering wheel, are all here.
But what makes this so much better than the deluxe is in the bot mode. In this scale, they manage to put several gimmicks that are unique to each version of Deluxe Bumblebee into one. The right arm cannon with springloaded missiles, the hidden cannons behind the right shoulder, even the battle mask, which is a permanent fixture in several Deluxe versions' headsculpt, is represented as a movable piece here.
Another addition here that would otherwise be impossible on the Deluxe version is the articulated figure of Sam. Although not the most well painted figure or incredibly articulated, it has enough detail and poseability to sit in the driving seat, stand on Bumblebee's hand, and interact with the various weapons and gimmicks on Bumblebee. Personally I think it is not necessary, but it's nice that the designer would go through the trouble for the extra play value.
Compared with the Ultimate Bumblebee, which is more expensive, got a less intuitive or enjoyable transformation, all for the sake of the electronics sounds and moterized shoulders, this is certainly the better compromise of the two in my opinion.

My son adores transformers and can normally transform any he gets given. This though was too hard, and not fun as he had to keep asking me to help, which really isn't the idea! Shame.

I brought this toy for my six year old not a good choice on my part he loved it and enjoyed moveing the parts around but got frudtrated when he could not change it back in to a car or robot i know its for dad's and i had fun playing with it and then his head fell off it clicks back on but it comes of quite eaisly now and i found it hard to put it back in to the car perfectly but he does still play with it four weeks later so not bad but asks me to change it back and forward which i try to do with him so it is good to play together but he would like to show me how he can do it on his own

Far too complicated to transform for a child of six! I bought this for my grandson because he'd put it on his Christmas list. It took me nearly an hour to 'transform' to the robot and by that time my grandson had totally lost interest. The instructions aren't clear enough and I doubt very much this toy will ever be played with - complete waste of money!

I can whole-heartedly agree with the other reviews. If playing with cars or robots is your child's thing in life then this toy will fulfill that role. As a Transformer things start to go a bit awry. Even with the instructions it took a competent adult over twenty minutes to change it from a car to a robot. The request to change it back to a car was met with reluctance, but twenty minutes later the child was happy.
The Transformers I remember could be changed in sub two minutes. They also seemed to be more solid, the plastic on this seems flimsy. This toy seems to be more of a puzzle than a toy. Purchase by all means, but be ready to lend a lot of assistance.
