Pretty perfect in pink!
I got this after my muched loved Pentax Optio M30 died after less than 2years! I had 35mm Canon before I got my first digital and it never failed me, so after lot's of resarch I decided to go for this. It's just had it's first major trial in a trip up to the Artic Circle and has proved outstanding. Small enough to fit in my tightest jeans pocket or smallest handbag (a...

Pretty perfect in pink!, 17 July 2009
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
Small enough to fit in my tightest jeans pocket or smallest handbag (a major plus point), it fires up quickly so you're not waiting for ages when you want to take a shot. The zoom is brilliant, with no noticable loss of detail on the max. And the focus is so good that even the shots of the beautiful scenery I took from the car as we were going along at 90kph have turned out fantasticly! Three days and over a hundred shots later the battrey is still showing full and I can't wait to take more shots. If you're looking for a new camera then I can't recomend this enough!

Great little Camera, 27 Mar 2009
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
I bought this to replace my old Olympus mini muji which produced such blurry images when the flash was off that I had almost stopped using it. Thankfully the image stabiliser on this is much better and produces very sharp images. The camera is very easy to use, it's very easy to switch between modes. There is auto mode (which is very responsive to changing light levels ect), portrait, night time, kids and pets (I've yet to get to grips with that one!), indoor and sunset. It has a viewfinder so you can save the battery and still take pictures with the LCD screen off, although I've not found battery life to be a problem. The Samsung softwear is ok, nothing special. The pink colour is very vibrant and feminine without being too cutesy. Basically, it does what you would expect and does it well.
My only minor gripe is that is doesn't come with a memory card. This isn't a huge issue as you can buy them very cheaply (I subsequently got a 8G SDHC SanDisk card for £9 which will store 2994 images or about an hour of video according to the manual) but I didn't realize (probably should have read the description with more care) and then had to order one and wait to try the camera out until it arrived which was very frustrating! Also, I think it is a tad cheap of Canon not to include a small card to get you started considering the price. The manual states that the following cards are compatible with the camera:
SD
SDHC
MultiMediaCards
MMCplus
HC MMCplus
So, buy it and get a card at the same time.

brilliant camera, 6 July 2009
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
I am a professional photographer, and a great fan of canon cameras anyway, this little pink camera is great for my personal snaps. The image quality is fantastic. I always recommend ixus cameras over all the other little digital cameras. Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5" LCD

Product description is wrong...., 27 Dec 2009
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
I wanted to buy a digital camera that was fairly cheap but took really vibrant and clear photos. So far, this camera does do that. However, the reason I bought this particular camera was on the Manufacturer's product description it stated that there were 'Colour Accent' and 'Colour Swap' features which I thought made this camera stand out over others. However, once I bought the camera I realised that the IXUS 95 does not have these features - this applies to other Canon cameras in the IXUS range. The other reason I give this camera only 3 stars instead of 4 is that when taking photos of people indoors - using the flash, I find that a shadow appears on the edge of their profile. I'm not sure if this is due to something I'm doing wrong when taking the photo but I never noticed this with my old Kodak digital camera and it makes the image look blurred when in fact it is not.
Apart from the above reasons, the camera is really good. It takes amazing macro shots and depending on which settings you use, you can get some really colourful photos. For anyone not worried about having the colour accent and colour swap features, this camera is definitely worth the money.

A pink performer, 2 Oct 2009
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
There is a great deal of technical information available about this camera and lots of user reviews so all I will say is that this birthday present for my 30 year old daughter was an immediate hit. I had charged the battery, fitted the card (an extra) attached the carry loop and got the thing ready for instant use. No sooner had she unwrapped it than she started taking photographs and continued to take photographs for the rest of the evening. In other words, the controls are easy to use and intuitive in their use. The viewing screen is large and offers good definition. This makes it easy to show the pictures you have just taken to any available victim! Pink may seem a 'controversial' colour but this pink is veering towards magenta and actually suits the camera. It's a quality product that looks and feels well made. 'Cool' was the general verdict. In use it also sounds well engineered - the motor is smooth and does not sound tired as it works. Thoroughly recommended - even in pink?

Gorgeous looking camera which is really easy to use. The face recognition a very handy feature and makes sure you keep everyone in focus. The quality of the photos is excellent as you would expect from Canon.
I'd thoroughly recommend this camera.

What a Dream machine, 9 July 2009
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
A really great buy for my daughter Liz who found the camera a delight to use. The resulting pictures are clear and bright with a superb face recognition system that never fails. She has not used all the functions on the camera but then thats true of all electronic goods we buy now. If you are looking for a great compact camera you won't be disappointed with this Canon. 5 star rating definitely.

Happy to recommend despite a few concerns., 18 May 2010
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
I bought this as a more 'handbag friendly' alternative to my husband's relatively bulky old Canon PowerShot A40.
One of the main reasons we chose the Ixus 95IS was because, unlike most digital cameras on sale these days, it still has a viewfinder - so, on those (admittedly rare) sunny days we have, we can still clearly SEE the subject of our photos ! (The Ixus' large LCD screen does offer a clear image but, as expected, even on its brightest setting, it cannot satisfactorily compete with strong sunlight).
However, for those who prefer to use the viewfinder on bright days, our tip would be:- Go into the camera's options menu and turn off the digital zoom. This will ensure that what you are seeing through the viewfinder is pretty much what the camera is 'seeing' - as the viewfinder only shows changes to the optical zoom settings not the digital zoom. If you have photo editing software already installed on your computer, it's probably best to disable the digital zoom anyway as you can more easily and accurately 'digitally' zoom in (if necessary) when you are editing the image.
And, on the subject of software, we found that, having correctly installed the Canon software supplied with this camera onto our laptop, it failed to 'recognise' the Ixus (so we uninstalled it) !
Fortunately, physically transferring the memory card into a different camera allowed us to pull in the images we had taken, without the need to load any additional software onto our computer, but it would have been better if the Ixus had allowed us to do the same - as this would have avoided the need to have to keep physically transferring the memory card between cameras.
Another unsatisfactory thing is that Canon only supply a printed version of the first 35 pages of the camera's manual, the rest you have to print off for yourself (from the CD-ROM supplied with the camera). We would have preferred it if Canon had printed the whole manual in English (as they did with our PowerShot) instead of supplying 4 separate different language versions of just the first part of it !
We'd agree with a previous reviewer's comments regarding the noisy zoom (and auto focus) but would not regard these as a major drawback.
Just one other minor 'niggle' is that the shiny surfaces and screen of the Ixus really show up any finger marks - particularly when compared to the trusty old matt finish PowerShot - so the Ixus needs more regular cleaning.
However, having said all of that, although we still have plenty of different camera settings to try out yet, we are both very pleased with our new Ixus so far - especially the red eye reduction and overall image quality - so would happily recommend it.

Nice camera, beware, software included doesn't work on all MS systems, 25 May 2010
This review is from: Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS Digital Camera - Pink (10 MP, 3.0x Optical Zoom) 2.5 inch LCD (Electronics)
Excellent camera, takes very good pictures, easy to use but offers lots more if you want to play with it. Only one niggle and thats not so much with the camera but with the software supplied. It seems to work for most operating systems, but it won't work on XP 64 bit systems, which might be in a minority, but its what our two pcs use. When I asked Canon if they had a version for this they said no. Annoying that I bought two of these cameras without knowing about it. I've had similar problems with Canon products in the past - lack of customer support. Nice camera, poor after sales support, it only gets three stars because of this.
Update - the camera has developed a problem. I still think it is a marvelous camera but the after sales support I have just received has been consistent with everything I have had in the past. The camera has a European Warranty System (EWS as stated with the enclosed paperwork) leading one to believe that the warranty is in fact, European wide but the Canon people now tell me that it has to be returned to the UK before it can be fixed. Again, not something that many people will fall foul of, but illustrates the attitude of Canons after sales services. It will be the last Canon product that I buy.
