Does the job, 11 Aug 2009

My old mower had given up the ghost and so thr hunt was on for a new one. I wanted a strong, robust machine capable of handling a medium to larhe size garden.
I am very happy with my choice and it performs the tasks set it unfailingly.
The Good
Easy and quick to assemble. I didn't even need to consult the clear and well illustrated instructions.
Wide 43cm cutting blade which really does get right into corners and borders.
Powerful 1700 watt motor
Generous supply of cable
Light weight and easy to push despite it fairly large size
Wide range of cutting heights easily adjusted
The Bad
Build quality seems good, but the body is all (heavy duty) plastic
Necessary to reach inside and clean out blade chamber when emptying grass container (unplug first!)
I have been sitting here for the last few minutes trying to come up with more negatives about this mower - and I can't.
To sum up - yes, I would most happily recommend this excellent product

After using most well known makes of mower over many years. This is by far the best. It does all as shown in the advertisements. It cut closer to the edges than any other product I've used except shears or a strimmer.
This mower is also available in two other models the 38mm and 40mm, so read all the revues to get other opinions.
If you are thinking of buying a new lawnmower, buy this. Plus I have not found this product anywhere cheaper than from Amazon.

I bought the Rotek 43 as a replacement for an ailing 3.5 H.P. petrol mower. I wanted to got the biggest size available to save time on my substantial lawn.
Living in a terraced house, weight is significant as everything must be brought through the hallway. In this respect the Bosch is significantly lighter and more managable. It can do all that my petrol mower did once I pay attention to where the cable is. The "grass combs" feature is achedemic and I find there is no difference in how close I can mow to a walled edge. Again I find no difference in the grassbox capacity - it might be slightly narrower and hence more easily discharged into a plastic sack, but its contours cause the grass to stick - especially when a bit damp.
The power is fine at 1.7kw and I feel that I am doing a bit for the environment!

Never owned an electric mower before. My garden is 30m x 20m and I changed my mind several times between electric/petrol before ordering the Rotak 43. After one month it's doing a great job, and if it lasts 5 years it'll be the best value mower I've ever owned. We'll see...

So far so good - long cable 20m, good carry handle - very important, as I have one patch that need to carry it 2 steps. Got it from B&Q as it was 20% discounted on a particular weekend and makes it a bargain.

STURDY & EASY TO USE GR8 4 A LARGE GARDEN, 4 Dec 2009

This mower will tackle anything, uneven ground, moss, wet grass. It has a compacting bin on the back which is fabulous when U have to walk back & fore to the compost heap in a large garden. Wide enough to reduce walking back & fore to the compost heap in a large garden. Easy to hold bar on the handle to continue cutting (& safety start button, good for loose kids, wanting a try). Long power lead which cannot be pulled out of the mower socket when turning etc.(Stored in the 'bin' when not being used.)

Living in the Azores meant replacing the UK electrical plug with the European, two lead plug, and I was expecting to cut the wire for that, but to my surprise, the UK plug was the screw-on type, which made replacement a synch!
The electrical motor has an exceptionally high torque output. My lawn had many areas that were over 12 inches high and the mower went through it without ever jamming or dying down.
The only drawback I found is that the side trimmer does not work very well. Repeated passes were needed two trim right. Other than that, everything works as promised.
For such a large package, I was expecting a slight delay, but Amazon.com.uk delivered on time and right to my door steps.
Really nice mower, and worth the price!

I bought a Rotak 43 ealier this year when my 12" cylinder mower began again to cut grass unevenly (inspite of a costly repair)and having seen a smaller model at work. The 43 saves me a great deal of time and easily copes with various lengths of grass (including long stalk seed heads). Additionally the Rotak picks up twigs and leaves from the lawn and can also be used to sweep up leaves etc from had surfaces (concrete/tarmac drives) with out damgaging the blade.
The blade change is very easy to do to allow for resharpening.
All in all a very good buy.
