The birds' favourite by far
This is without doubt the favourite with the birds in my garden - includes goldfinches, sparrows, great tits, coal tits, blue tits and blackcaps.
I have around 8 feeders in my garden, 3 of which are squirrel proof and I only put the premium feed in these (e.g. sunflower hearts). Even compared to the other squirrel proof feeders, this is by far the most popular and...

doesn't work
Only small birds can get in, and squirrels have little trouble in working out how to get to the seeds. Email sent to my wife a moment ago: I give up. Just saw a squirrel clinging to the globe with three limbs, arm stretched through the hole, successfully reaching the dispenser with its hand and helping him/herself to the seeds. They'll inherit the earth. xxxx...

The birds' favourite by far, 13 Sep 2009
This review is from: Gardman Wild Bird Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder
This is without doubt the favourite with the birds in my garden - includes goldfinches, sparrows, great tits, coal tits, blue tits and blackcaps.
I have around 8 feeders in my garden, 3 of which are squirrel proof and I only put the premium feed in these (e.g. sunflower hearts). Even compared to the other squirrel proof feeders, this is by far the most popular and I fill it twice a week and have never seen a squirrel get in....in over 2 years. I know how cunning they are as have seen them get round all sorts in the past, but this is the only product i'm yet to see them get through.
I quesion the other reviews that criticise that only small birds can get into this....there's a clue in the product name in that it will not allow anything in smaller than (you guessed it!) a squirrel. Therefore, for those hoping to attract magpies, blackbirds, waxwings, pigeons, sparrowhawks, squirels or even rats I would recommend buying a bird table.
Very easy to refill and clean, top quality, will be buying more.

To stop squirrels from reaching the seeds the globe should be bigger.

not squirrel proof, 21 Jun 2010
This review is from: Gardman Wild Bird Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder
This is a very well made bird seed feeder and I expect it will last for years However, do not expect it to be "squirrel proof" My local squirrel (I only have one) gets in - and out, with ease. It does, however, keep out magpies and jays - and once the little birds get used to it, it is successful for them. So, sadly, a mixed bag - I wonder when they designed it, if they only tested it on very stupid squirrels...

Sparrows can eat as well now., 29 Jan 2009
This review is from: Gardman Wild Bird Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder
At last the sparrows can get a look in, as the larger and very greedy Starlings cannot get to the food. Is very easy to refill, and to take apart to clean.

Attractive in the garden but not squirrel proof!, 22 Jun 2009
This review is from: Gardman Wild Bird Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder
Shame that I can't upload the picture evidence that demonstrates this feeder is NOT squirrel proof. Looks good and attracts a variety of birds. But the squirrels quickly worked out how to get inside the cage. Have to admit very entertaining to watch them at work - almost worth getting the feeder to watch them triumph once again! They don't devour the seed in this feeder as quickly which I guess is a hollow victory of sorts.

ok for a while, 11 Aug 2010
This review is from: Gardman Wild Bird Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder
I used this for nearly a year before the squirrels worked it out! Today I even found one inside. By the way the hanging wire snapped too. It was good for a while, but not squirrel proof.

Squirrel proof!, 21 April 2010
This review is from: Gardman Wild Bird Squirrel Proof Seed Feeder
At last a squirrel proof bird feeder ... now got both peanut and seed feeder the same type ... great fun watching very confused squirrels trying to figure them out ... they're not as clever as they think ... first class pieces of kit!
