works great
Have tried epilators in the past and was not impressed. This one works great, gets all hairs, even short ones. Skin is smooth and no stubble. yes it does hurt to start, but you get use to it and I wont go back to shaving. The pivioting head really gets closer to your skin. The light shows up all hairs. you stay hair free for days. Exfoliating does stop in-growing...

Ok but....
Works well, the light is handy, but I was really annoyed to get home and find that that it only comes with a two pin plug. It doesn't mention this anywhere on the packaging - so unless you have a 2 prong razor socket in your bathroom you'll have to go and buy an adaptor plug. Poor show Braun.

I started epilating my arms when I was a teenager, using a Braun silk epil that I bought in the mid-nineties. Fantastic results, but the pain really was considerable, and it used to take me about 45 minutes as a result. I defected to waxing for a few years, but bought the Xpressive 7180 yesterday as the waxing cost really does add up. I love it. It must be less painful than before, because I had both arms done in less than 20 minutes. It was much easier to guide across the area than my previous one due to the design and flexibility of the head. The little light is pretty useful too. I agree with one of the other reviews that it's odd that it only comes with a 2 pin plug, but I have an adaptor for my electric toothbrush in my room anyway, so this didn't bother me enough to deduct a star from what is a great product.

Excellent Epilator, 18 May 2009

I have to say, I am pleasantly surprised by how good this epilator is. I couldn't wait to try it, and was able to wax my bikini line, legs and (1) underarm.
Bikini: very easy to do - hardly any pain or discomfort. My skin did get a bit raised and bumpy, but 2 days later this has now cleared up.
Legs: a bit more painful, and the results were a bit more patchy. It might be that the hairs weren't yet optimum length - I'll try again in a few days.
Underarms: painful but with a good result - I will definitely try again.
The massage head really helps I think - when I changed to the optimum head I definitely experienced more pain and immediately put the massage head back on again.
Overall, very happy, and stunned at the difference between this and the last epilator I used.

Painful but worth it !, 2 May 2009

I purchased this appliance for a bargain price. I guessed it was going to be painful and to be honest it was and brought tears to my eyes on first use. BUT, the results are more than worth the few minutes of pain!! My underarms were the first areas to be targeted. Here's what I did:
* I showered and exfoliated both armpits
* I wiped both armpits with the wipes provided with the kit
* For first use I chose the 'soft' head provided with the kit
* To use the applicance, I plugged into the shaver socket in the bathroom. As previous reviews have stated, it would have been useful for the applicance to come with a three pin plug or for the adapter to have been included in the kit
* I pulled the skin taught and moved the appliance over the area as quickly as my pain threshold would allow. It took about 5 mins to complete both arms
* I then dusted talcum powder over both armpits to soothe the skin and calm it down
* An hour or so afterwards, I washed the area once again and then applied anti-perspirant
Nearly one week later both pits are hair free, and my skin remains nice and smooth.
Going by results so far, I suspect I will have to re-do once every 2-3 weeks, and friends have said that it becomes less and less painful each time you do it :-)

I don't usually leave reviews but I have just used this product and I am seriously impressed. I have to say I didn't bother with the pre epilation wipes that you get with the product and went straight for the epilator. Firstly, this is by far better than the previous epilator I had used which was about the half the price and with far less tweezers. This little piece of kit really does remove ALL the hairs no matter how short and leaves your skin feeling so much smoother and gorgeous. Spending abit more on these sorts of products really makes a difference and I am so pleased I did go for this as it puts my old remington to shame. I must also add that this it is also practically painless compared to the remington and didn't leave my skin red, sore and chicken like. All in all this is a great product and would definitely highly recommend it.

I am a first-time epilator and I spent ages looking at different epilators before plumping for this one while it was on special offer. I was very apprehensive about the pain factor and worried about investing my hard earned cash in a product that was too painful to use, however this product is amazing! I used it for the first time with the beginners cap and can honestly say I felt no pain at all and afterwards there was no redness or irritation (and I usually get sore skin after shaving so I expected to get red painful legs after using this!), its great. It does take longer than shaving, but who cares it leaves your skin silky smooth. I did miss quite a few hairs the first time I used the epilator but its just because I'm not used to this method of hair removal. I am so pleased, I wish I'd bought an epilator years ago.

I brought this item as i am a track cyclist (Male) and I used to shave my legs, as most competitive cyclists do. The Braun Epilator works so much better than shaving, My legs stay hair free for a few weeks. I was finding with shaving I used to have to do it every few days.
I was a bit painfull at first , especially on the top of the thighs but this get less and less as you use it more.
I recommend this to other male cyclists. Much better results than shaving and lasts alot longer

I was a bit worried about using this (am a bit of a scardy cat). But it was surprisingly easy. Only a bit of stinging on the first go, then more or less pain free (though arm pits are a bit more ouchy, but only a bit). One tip, works best on shorter hair, so trim first if need be!
I couldn't get on with waxing, found shaving too much of a chore so this was perfect. Would recommend to anyone.

AMAZING, I am totally converted. After 3 uses the hairs are already much sparser on my legs. I won't deny the first time it hurts, subsequent times it is just uncomfortable, but well worth it. Have not been brave enough to try bikini yet!!! Would definately recommend
