Fantastic!
I bought this mower based on "Rabs" 5 star review, and was not disapointed! Like Rabs I had laboured with a Flymo Hover for years dreading the summer months, but not now!
This mower cuts through the toughest and longest grass like a knife through soft butter! I just wish I had discovered it sooner, it is a joy to operate and I was done in half the time!

Broke after 18 months
I had my machine for 18 months, and initially was pleased- it cuts to the edge of the patio and doesn't spray grass all over it -like my old hover flymo. Weak points include; the folding handle pivots which in use have shed their protective coating, the cable - which is stiff and tangles - presumably contains some steel (cheaper than copper) - certainly inferior to the...

Just a quick review. I recently offloaded my nearly new "useless" Flymo and bought one of these. The Flymo was simply useless - didnt cut, didnt hover, didnt collect the grass - pretty basic requirements of a mower!!
I purchased this mower as a replacement and have to say, it is fantastic. Allows you to mow right to the edge of the lawn, easy to assemble, cut very nicely and is light and easy to move around. It collects all the grass leaves your lawn looking beautiful!
Really good value for money - compared to the cheaper Flymo, which was useless and a complete waste of time and money.
Buy one!

I bought this Rotak 36, to replace my useless Flymo which I have been struggling with for the last couple of years. All I wanted was it to cut the grass, but you ended up going over everything twice to do the job, even then it was'nt great. This Bosch is so much better, lighter, more powerfull motor, and best of all cuts first time. Excellent Product..

An excellent mower for a small lawn. I found this mower a quality product that assembled easily, was lightweight and even sounded the business.
I have had the mower for over a month now and I am very happy with it. I am sure you will not be dissapointed if you are looking for a small robust lightweight mower.
Its maybe worth noting that I originally opted for a flymo (mow and vac), but this was worse than useless, I am glad I paid the extra money and replaced it with this Bosch product. I am reviewing this, so you dont make the same mistake !!

Wonderful Mower for Small/Medium Gardens, 12 April 2007

I bought this to replace a Flymo I had for too many years to mention. I found that the Flymo could not cope with the ruts caused by children playing and I now see in later reviews that this would appear to be a common problem for Flymo owners. This one on the other hand works superbly due to the wheels, rotary cut, variable cut height, and very powerful motor.
The cutting takes a third of the time it took me before and without my arms feeling that they had been wrestling with Lennox Lewis.
I am a great fan of Bosch tools as I find that invariably they are well constructed egonomically good and well designed and this is no exception.

I don't normally write reviews, but this lawnmower is so good it deserves it. I had been using a black and decker 4x4 for the last seven years before it finally gave up the ghost. The difference is like night and day. I bought the rotak after reading these reviews and I am so glad I did. It is so quick and collects ALL the grass cuttings. It also cuts to the shortest length first time with no stalling of the blade or clogging up of the collectiion chute (unlike the 4x4). All in all a first class product that I would highly recommend.

I needed to purchase a new mower recently as my 3 year old Flymo fell apart, and decided to read the Amazon reviews before I made a decision.
This Rotak 36 seemed to have no faults so I decided to buy at the excellent Amazon price.
What a good decision!! I have used it once and it does exactly as it says on the tin!
Very easy to assemble, well made from good thick plastic, and it cuts the lawns a treat.
Cuts very evenly, right up to the edges of the lawn, and the grass box is large enough not to have to make constant visits to the compost bin.
Light in weight makes it very manoueverable, the large carrying handle in the top enables one to lift very easily, and it is reasonably quiet.
One small gripe. It is supplied with only 12 metres of cable, so it did not reach the bottom of my garden. Will have to fabricate an extension, otherwise great value.

Like several other previous owners of a Flymo,I decided to plunge for this mower based on its many 5 star reviews,after my Flymo went up in smoke.I wasn`t to be disappointed.This mower is an absolute treat.After several years of using a Flymo and it`s many replacements this one cuts effortlessly and cleanly first time without going to and fro on the same patch of grass which often ended up being chewed rather than cut by my Flymo.The Rotak picks up every piece without leaving clumps of compressed grass on the lawn.It did my edges so well that I didn`t need to use the edging shears afterwards.All this on damp and fairly long grass.A faultless performance.Highly recommended.

Thank goodness my 10+ year old Flymo stopped working. A new switch for under a tenner would have probably fixed it but don't tell the wife! It went to the dump before the new on arrived, as usual, with great efficiency from Amazon.
This mower knocks the old one into a cocked hat. It gives a really even cut and fills the grass box surprisingly quickly. When I had finished the job and cleaned off the machine I was delighted to find that there was no grass adhering to the underside around the blade. It was almost as clean as when I started (unlike its predecessor). The nature of my lawns are that I have curved 'wavy' edges so with wheels this mower is slightly less maneuverable than the old one. I will get over that small difficulty because in all other respects this mower is perfect.

Worth knowing, 27 May 2008

Bought this lawnmower last week. Motor is very powerful, cuts long wet grass without to much trouble. Even has a small roller on the back to give striped effect!
Only complaint is that the grass box / flap did not fit correctly. Called Bosch who are going to replace the part free of charge. Apparently this is has happened on quite a few these models. Otherwise an excellent product.
