Smooth, versatile and comfortable
I can't fault this mouse - I use it on Mac OS and Windows and its by far the best mouse I have ever owned. The movement of the mouse itself is very smooth and being able to customise the different buttons for different applications really speeds up workflow and makes it a joy to use. The near frictionless scrolling totally amazed me as I didn't discover it straight away...
Poor performance with the buttons
OK, it looks great but what is important in a mouse is that the pointer tracks predictably and the buttons work when you click them.
The pointer does not track predictably. Sometimes it is slow, other times it stops. This could be the surface I am using it on, but I haven't had a similar problem with other mice.

Having not used a mouse for as long as I can remember I love how easy and intuitive this mouse is. The best 2 reasons to buy it are:
1) The Search button - Highlight a word in a document or web page, press find and it opens your search engine (you choose which) and brings up the results for the word
2) The Zoom button - Move from a 6 page view to 500% in no time at all, makes using Word/Excel/PowerPoint so easy!
3) Take out the USB dongle it turns the mouse on, put it back in, it turns it off! Great for saving battery power!
All in all, amazing value, great build am sure some other mice do this but all in all, great value! BUY ONE!

I have been a fan of Logitech mice for over 10 years and have become accoustomed to their build quality, reliability and comfort. I use an MX 1000 on my desktop and so last week, when I acquired my first laptop, I immediately began looking for a suitable mouse. The Logitech VX Revolution stood out head and shoulders above the competition.
It arrived yesterday; I installed the drivers, plugged in the dongle and everything worked perfectly first time. Despite its 3/4 size it is a pleasure to use, the supporting software allows customisation of practically all the buttons and other things besides - and the new 'free-spinning' wheel is great innovation. (I'm told that some people are still using mice whose wheels don't even rock sideways!) All in all it's a beautiful mouse, cleverly designed and well made.
If you need a laptop mouse, can afford the investment and are prepared to pay for quality then you'd be very hard pressed to find a better way of spending your money.
Unless of course you're left-handed!

What a fabulous mouse - the contours fit to the hand comfortably, with a slightly textured surface at the thumb indentation for extra extra firm grip.
Slightly larger than some notebook mice, but I think this is all to the good, as it takes a certain size to provide sufficient support for the hand. However, it is still small and convenient.
Unlike the nano, which attempts to work for both left handed and right handed people (and is, in consequence, comfortable for neither), navigation keys are on the left side of the mouse, allowing navigation using the thumb.
There is also a zoom function, easily accessible on top using index finger. (On the nano, this is the position of the navigation key, there being no thumb keys, and is excruciatingly useless position for such a frequently used function). I'm not quite convinced about the zoom button though - it feels to me that it might be a little fragile. Only longer term use will show if this continues to work.
Of course, you can always switch the functions around using software, but I don't see any reason for anyone in their right mind to do so (not sure about gamers - they might have other needs. I don't know anything about that).
The scrolling options also are extremely useful, with a small switch on the bottom turning on the freewheeling function, allowing scrolling of many pages with only a flick of the finger, reducing stress.
However, one caveat: This mouse is not for left-handers. I don't know if they produce a left-handed version of this mouse, but otherwise, lefties - this product is not for you. It seems to be the price of truly ergonomic tailoring; a single mouse cannot cater to either hand.
For a right handed person like me, though, it is a joy to use. Thoroughly recommended. Enjoy!

After a good few months thinking and weekends scouring of the internet it came down to a choice between this mouse and Logitech's MX Revolution mouse to replace my standard one button Apple Wireless Mouse. I decided on this for both the zoom slider and the fact that it used a single AA battery rather than a built in battery.
The mouse itself is wonderful, it feels lovely in your hand and glides smoothly over any surface I've tried it on without losing anything off the extremely accurate tracking. On my iMac the buttons are completely configurable and can not only be given global settings but can application specific as well which is brilliant for games (as the mouse is overall). In addition the scroll wheel is brilliant, generally I use it in freewheel mode which is not only great for quick scrolling of pages but is sensitive enough to stop close to the line you were looking for. I didn't originally think much of this feature but it's quickly proved to be one of my favourite things about this mouse.
The size is also very good even though it is not as big as a full size desktop mouse, it's possibly a bit small for my hands but for a laptop mouse it's a good size for carrying around. The fact the the receiver also stores in the mouse itself is a massive bonus as it means you're not likely to lose it so easily.
Overall if you're looking for a first rate laptop mouse (or even desktop mouse) you would not be sorry with this one, it's not only well designed but also easy to use and very comfortable. It's not cheap but you rally do get what you pay for as you do with any Logitech product I've ever used.

This simply has to be the best laser mouse on the market for laptop users. It's ergonomic design is simply packed with interesting and useful features. This recent purchase was actually a gift for someone else. I have one myself however that I purchased a couple of years ago and I'm yet to find a fault with it. The single AAA battery seems to last an eternity. It's an excellent product at an affordable price!

Overall a nice mouse, but the scroll wheel is flimsy and not easy to press down.
The Microgear - which gives it "steps" while scrolling - isn't strong enough and it'll turn sometimes when pressing it down (like when trying to open a link in a new window).
There are strange "features" that occur when the Logitech SetPoint software is active - it sometimes requires 2 or 3 middle clicks to open links in a new window. It takes 3 presses to create and get rid of the autoscroll circle icon, only the usual 2 when the software is disabled.
The Zoom and Search buttons don't work without SetPoint activated. Zoom will do nothing and Search will just open a new window with your chosen search engine without any query. Most people have Google Toolbar anyway.
It's a very good mouse for the price, but you should set your speed/acceleration with SetPoint, then exit SetPoint by right-clicking the icon so you don't have the multiple-click problems.

The pointer does not track predictably. Sometimes it is slow, other times it stops. This could be the surface I am using it on, but I haven't had a similar problem with other mice.
The buttons, however, are much worse. Sometimes they work, other times they don't. Sometimes you have to click half a dozen times to get the thing to work. Another problem is that a single click seems to 'store up' lots of clicks and many click commands end up being sent even though you have clicked once.
Very frustrating, not least for the price I paid for it. Fewer flash add-ons please, just concentrate on producing a mouse which at least does the core function adequately.

This mouse is excellent for many reasons.
If you are a gamer then it is perfect as it has all the usual on a mouse, as well as a quick zoom button. It also has back and forward buttons, perfectly positioned, for web browsing.
The mouse has two different settings of laser strength, although the default works excellently, and I use the mouse on a leather couch arm. It also has a power button on the bottom to help you save power when you are not using the mouse, (unlike some mouses which stay on 24 hours a day!) There is an eject button on the bottom for when you want to remove the USB receiver.
The mouse is extremely comfortable to hold especially if you are a heavy user, (which I definately am!) The USB receiver is very stylish and seems to add to the image of your laptop. It is very small and sleek, with a glossy black finish. You probably don't need to know this but it uses 2.4ghz technology.
Hope you enjoyed the review!

I will start by saying that been the type of person who likes to keep up to date with technology and goes out and buys only the best gadgets and peripherals especially when it comes to computers and computer equipment, I have been thought a lot of mice even over just over past year or two for my laptop including the Logitech V500 and Microsoft's Optical 4000, which are both top quality notebook mice. I have had the Logitech VX revolution since I first saw it in the shops around 3 months ago it looked good so I had to have it, and from the first time I used it I never looked back, this is simply the bets mouse I have ever had for my laptop.
I find the unique feature this mouse had very useful, like the free scrolling wheel, the wheel has to settings that can be altered via a switch located at the bottom of the mouse, when in free scrolling mode (as I call it) you don't keep having to turn the wheel to scroll down the page you just give the wheel a spin and it will keep spinning until you just stop it by just bracing it with your finger, at which point the page you are scrolling through will also stop scrolling with great accuracy, I find this feature very comfortable to use and functional. I usually keep the mouse wheel on this setting unless I'm playing a game in which case I swap to the step scroll setting (as I call it).
There is a search button which for me took some getting used to where by you can select any text anywhere on a web page or even in a word document, then you click search button located on top of the mouse then it will bring up search results in a web browser for the text you selected which again can save time while doing research on the internet.
Now to the fun part gaming, I use this mouse to play a few games especially online FPS and even more specific Battlefield 2, this mouse also gets top marks on the level of accuracy I get from it here as well, for anyone who play this game I will say that the speed in which you can perform actions such as movement of the turret when driving a tank or APC is fantastic you can spin the turret a full 360 in one movement if u wanted its great, this mouse defiantly makes a difference and give you a very accurate control over your character and target area when playing such games.
In terms of comfort again this is very good for a notebook mouse standard's, its slightly bigger than some most other notebook mice but still compact to carry around, which is excellent as most notebook mice I find are to small. Even the USB receiver in very compact and slots nicely into the mouse for that extra level of mobility.
Although this mouse is not cheep it really is a cut above the rest of the portable mice out on the market in everyway, if you want the best then this is the one to buy without a doubt.
