Sony Sounds
The Sony MDR-G82LP Street Style Headphones are Sonys top of the rnge street headphones, and therefore are are more expensive than most. Before buying the use of the headphones have to be considered. Great Sound, Uncomfortable to Wear
There's no denying the sound quality provided by these headphones. I was plain gobsmacked. They easily outstrip many bulkier Hi-Fi headphones in terms of outright performance. Never have I heard such clear, distortion free sound from a set of portable 'phones. A *big* drawback for me, though, is that I found them very uncomfortable to wear for more than a few minutes...

Sony Sounds, 3 Sep 2001
The Sony MDR-G82LP Street Style Headphones are Sonys top of the rnge street headphones, and therefore are are more expensive than most. Before buying the use of the headphones have to be considered. If you want to go out and about with them on, the I would suggest the MDR-G52LP 's at instead (having tried both) as they are less bulky, of course the sound quality is slightly better with the more expensive MDR-G82LP's but this is barely noticable when out and about. Both headphones are designed for portable players but the 82LP's are more suited to the home or the car (just when you're not driving!) as they give a much fuller bass sound. The 82LP's have a very neat feature in that they can fold up, the headphones themselves are larger than most portable ones so this is handy for storage. The headphones are very comfortable as they don't touch your ears as others do, instead they wrap around them. Of course this contributes to their bulk. If you are intending to use them for around the home or in the car then they are a definite good choice.

One of my best investments., 10 Mar 2002
These headphones pretty fantastic. The sound quality is absolutely crystal clear when I use them with my MD player, but the best fact is the way they cup your entire ear like a glove. It not only keeps the music in, it keeps the noise out when you are out and about- which is perfect for the tube. It also means you do not need to raise the volume so high to listen clearly. The music seems to project itself right into the centre of your mind beautfully. I wear these *alot*, around and at work, and I can comfortably wear them for three of four hours at a time without a second thought. They do not really get sweaty or hot because of the nice material used. The behind the neck design is really funky too, and the grip to the head is very good indeed. The only slight disadvantage with the design is that you cannot rest your head back wearing them - so they are no good for falling asleep in of a plane or train for example.

Great Sound, Uncomfortable to Wear, 6 Jul 2002
There's no denying the sound quality provided by these headphones. I was plain gobsmacked. They easily outstrip many bulkier Hi-Fi headphones in terms of outright performance. Never have I heard such clear, distortion free sound from a set of portable 'phones.A *big* drawback for me, though, is that I found them very uncomfortable to wear for more than a few minutes - hence the low rating. I wouldn't expect all headphones to fit all heads but the complete lack of adjustability on a product that Sony itself labels as 'top of the range' is sorely disappointing. So, my recommendation is (if you can) try before you buy. If they're a comfortable fit for you then they are a must buy. If not... well...

My assessment, 15 Mar 2003
pros: crystal clear sound quality. the overall sound quality is amazing. The headphones envelop your ears, effectively blocking out about 80% of external noise. ideal for people who enjoy listening to music on the bus or walking along the highstreet. All you'll here is the music...crystal clearcons: slightly bulkly, however they fold up nicely to put away. Aesthetically they look really slick but i felt like a bit of a moron with these big headphones protruding nery noticeably from the sides of my head... giving a princess laya effect. Overall: I recommend these. no point in having a good minidisk player when you can't appreciate the sound. I also use this from my pc, for totally immersive sound, you'll here things you never heard before

Good sound, comfortable for upright positions, 13 Oct 2003
Well, i am not a frick of music, only like to hear it as much as possibleBR>In any case, there are good headphones, way better than the standard u get with your CD/MD. Sound isolation is pretty good, so you feel right at the center of the performer... This headphones would have gotten a 5 star, if only they were headband and not back-headband..the damn thing won't let you rest your head on anything! So, it's good for sitting (upright or half lying down) or to walk around. Didn't tried to run with them, but i guess the cushions would take alot of the sweat... Bottom line, good headphones as long as you don't think to go to sleep with

Keeps the nutters at bay, 13 Jul 2004
Pro's Excellent sound quality. They keep your music private - no tsss, tsss, tsss effect for your fellow commuters. You can still hear what's going on around you if you don't have the volume too high. Appear to be hard wearing so far - had them 7 months now without problems. Keep your ears nice and cosy in the winter On my commute from Brixton to the City they send a clear visual message to nutters, pan-handlers and overzealous religious believers to leave me the hell alone (sometimes I wear them without the music on).Con's Felt a bit self conscious wearing them initially, until I discovered the anti-nutter effect (see above). They slip down sometimes, requiring readjustment, but then all headphones do this in one way or another. I don't agree with some other reviewers that they're uncomfortable (maybe I just have small ears) Conclusion If you like the style, don't want to be hassled, and you don't have massive lugs, then you wont be disappointed.
