Rubbish, I am afraid

This review is from: HP Deskjet 2510 All-In-One Printer (Accessory)
I chose HP because I have used HP printers for years and found them very reliable. I knew this was a more basic model, but that was going to be acceptable for my purposes. I have found, however, that this machine is very unreliable - it sometimes refuses to print for no obvious reason then starts again, eats ink (a fault of all inkjets, I am aware of that - I was spoilt with the excellence of a previous laser printer), and sulks unless very small amounts of paper are fed through at one time, which is pretty annoying for someone who needs to generate long pieces of print. It has, however, finally hit the floor by refusing to put any print on the page at all. I have run all the diagnostics I can manage, all of which tell me the thing is in perfect running order, except for the little details of no print on the page. I think the Sale of Goods Act fitness for purpose provision has some relevance here. It was not a particularly expensive printer, but has turned out to be shockingly expensive as I am going to have to throw it out after a few months and buy another one. I could just have been unlucky with a Friday afternoon machine, but I will not be buying another of the same model. I do not think it is a matter of getting what you pay for, as I was not expecting anything other than a serviceably basic model, but one that does not put print on the page at all fails at any level. Printers are so often the weak link in anyone's technology chain, and here we go again.
