5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Ext. Hard Drive, 6 Oct. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 2TB Desktop USB 2.0 External Hard Drive with Capacity Gauge (Personal Computers)
Ordered this one because it was recommended in my computer magazine and my old Iomega was becoming very sluggish. It is a real gem. It is a nice neat little drive and 100% silent, I don't have to worry about switching it on and of as it does it in sync with the computer. As a professional. videographer I use it mainly for storing wedding videos and found it faultless. There is also a good backup software that comes with it but as the files I use run into 10's of gig I haven't used it.

Could someone please tell me how you get it to do this, I put my pc to sleep, but I then have to either switch GoFlex off, or leave it constantly "on"

Sorry I can't help you with this. The blue light is on and off in sync with the computer. Maybe you have a faulty one and should contact Seagate or your supplier.

Thanks for helping, much appreciated. I am still trying to become more familiar with the workings....I think it will be good, once I know what I am doing!

Hi can you please tell me about this drives teperature (Internal drive temperature not enclosure). I am asking this because lots of reviewers telling this drive becomes extremely hot after some time, like 67 Degrees after two hours of use. You can find this by installing free softwares called hdtunepro, crystaldiskinfo. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Sorry but I can't tell you internal temp and don't want to install this free software. All I can say is that the drive can be in use for a full day while I am editing a wedding video and there is nothing more taxing than that. Even when I have finished editing the unit does not even feel warm. The omega drive I used to have would get very warm. Hope this info helps.

Hi,

To anyone out there with the know how?

Once purchased, what do I need (i.e. cables, internet download applications) to store and run my DVD collection (currently about 200)?
How do I download each film individually once set up?
How to run and play my films throgh HARD DRIVE-LAPTOP-TV?
Is it true that the 2 TB will hold approximateley 4000 DVD films?
And can I download and store a mixture of DVD and Blu-Ray?
Oh, and do they have to all be the same region? Or can I mix the regions (I have a few region 1 + 4 discs)?

Lot of Q's, I know, but the answers on google are not very specific and vary from a 2 TB holding 200 films to 4000.

Thanks,
Matt.

Ghost, You do not need any cables other than what comes with the drive. You can use it just like a hard drive wether DVD or Blu-Ray. It is not pos to say how many films you will get on it as this depends on the size and if you use B-Ray this would take up much more space than a DVD.
