A cathartic writing experience!,

This book was clearly something the author needed to get out of their system.
These stores are ubiquitous in the US, and this volume describes the author's experiences in working their way up within one store. It's full of detail on fellow employees, and on the structure of the store. There are sections that could illustrate the experience of working in any large organisation, particularly in retail - although some of the description does seem to suggest particularly arbitrary practices.
As the writer obviously dislikes the whole management structure intensely, it's difficult to know if it's exaggerated. I had no particular feeling that it was, and it sounded plausible. The main limitation is that it's so concerned with one person's experience. If it interests you, then you'll enjoy it, but some readers may find it too limited to one place and time to be of wider interest. Still, I read to the end, and I'd probably buy another book from the same author- I'd suggest they write a 'management lessons from my Wallyworld experience' next time.
