Should have known better!,
This review is from: The Dangerous Book for Boys (Hardcover)
I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with this book - it has, in my opinion, been very over-hyped. I read the reviews on Amazon before buying, and did take into account those that weren't so good, but was swayed by all the glowing ones. I should have known better - I bought this for my son rather than my husband, but it really is a book that appeals to the nostalgia of a past generation rather than todays youth. My son has looked at it, but very briefly, his comment being that it was more like a school book, with too many facts about geography, science, maths etc, and not nearly enough about the things that he'd be interested in - the so called 'Dangerous' bits. I hasten to add that my son is a keen penknife owning, bonfire lighting, nature loving lad, not a computer game addict who hates the outdoors, so it should have been the perfect book for him. It is now gathering dust on the bookshelf, sadly.
