Another Example of Kay's Masterful Skills!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Darkest Road (Fionavar Tapestry) (Paperback)
If someone told me beforehand that the premise for this story involved five modern-day college kids being recruited to battle the forces of evil in a parallel fantasy world, I probably would have said the word "ludicrous." If they then told me that the Arthurian Legend was thrown into the mix as a subplot, I undoubtedly would have used the words "totally absurd." But if they added that the story was written by Guy Gavriel Kay, I definitely would have said, "Hmmm. He is one of the few authors who could actually pull this thing off." And that is precisely what he does, and in grand style no less. The Fionavar Tapestry is yet another example of Kay's masterful skills in prose and story-weaving. I won't spoil this story by going into detail, but read Fionavar or any novel written by Kay and you'll probably come to the same conclusion that I have: GGK has few peers when it comes to high fantasy, or any other genre for that matter.
