Better than the first,
This review is from: Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy 2) (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed the first book enough to make me want to read the second, and was pleasantly surprised to find the second book far more engrossing and with more depth. The first book had quite a few 'twilight' moments, with the heroine revelling in the beauty of her vampire, and felt a little bit like a teenage romance at times. The second book allows the author to indulge in her love of history, and I really ejoyed the way that she wove the creatures into history as we know of it. She also gave the main protagonists a lot more depth, which prevented the love story being twee. Overall, it was definitely the middle book of a trilogy, and we will have to wait to see how the changes that Diana and Matthew effected in the past will affect their present once they return, but I am really looking forward to the final book.
