This takes a little getting used to. I find it picks up my wooden wall studs pretty well, and I think it's spotted a few bits of pipework too. You do have to make a few passes side-to-side and up-and-down to nail down the exact spot, but that yields good accuracy.
So, in that respect, not bad at all, and it made sure I've not drilled any holes into the wrong place.
But the mains electricity detection... if you just press it to the wall by itself, it reports that most of the wall is covering live cables.
You can make it behave better by resting your hand on the wall beside it, which reduces the false positives, but it's still a bit overzealous with regard to electricity.
Detecting material is pretty good.
Detecting electrical cables is liable to label most of the wall as off-limits.
