This review is from: Here's One I Made Earlier (Audio CD)
I first came across Andrea Parker in the early to mid 90's thru her Melodious Thunk EP on Mo Wax, which at the time was the label de rigueur, her stark, dark minimal beats stood out a mile from the usual chin stroking fare the label (however how good it was) usually put out, and I admit to not knowing what to think of it, but something kept drawing me back to it.............
FFWD to present day and I am in awe of Andrea Parker's Here's one I made earlier.... it has that certain something! while it seems she sticks to the basic electro/beats template ( as much as Richie Hawtin stuck to his acid template, and see how far that took him....) its what she does with the tools at her command, stretching and pulling the equipment thru slowly evolving hoops and loops, some tracks last almost 10minutes as they grow, mutate and evolve.
IT brings to mind Jerry Goldsmith's Planet of the Apes soundtrack Goldsmith - Planet of the Apes-film score [SOUNDTRACK] with it's stark minimal approach, not to mention the dark and menacing overtones within.
Like Guiness, and acquired taste, but as individual and unique as you could ever hope to hear, classic stuff.
