Another good box set!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Rockabilly Cowboy: 250 Original Recordings (Audio CD)
For starters, this is real value for money!
You're getting 250 songs spread across 10 CD's with many forgotten Country & Rockabilly musicians.
As this is called 'Rock-a-Billy Cowboys', it featues more obscure artists, or artists who are more associated with Country Music rather than the well known Rockabilly musicians such as Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent etc. You're going to get material from Johnny Cash, Marvin Rainwater, Bob Luman, Hank Williams, Faron Young and Bill Haley from when he was backed with the Saddlemen as well as a host of unknown musicians.
The songs were recorded from 1947 to 1960. As well as the country roots of Rockabilly, there's some rockin' numbers to keep you happy too!
Any fan of Rockabilly would be interested in this box set. I'd highly recommend it!

Dukebox Stevie B says:
Inexpensive sets packed with songs like this are excellent, and you can overlook the lack of any detailed information about the musicians, etc, because you get to hear loads of good stuff performed by lesser known bands and singers such as Cliff Davis and his Kentucky Playboys and Vernon Stewart.
Ps, 3 minor quibbles.
A Faron Young song , When It Rains, It Pours, which according to the sleeve is track 25 on cd6 is non existent, Big Jeff's excellent Jukebox Boogie is featured twice(one of which is slightly speeded up), and several release dates are incorrect, but these are ultimately minor quibbles when you get so much good stuff in one place so cheap.
