A worthy sequel,

This review is from: Beyond the Chocolate War: A Novel (Hardcover)
Beyond the Chocolate War is the sequel to "The Chocolate War" by Robert Cormier. It again follows Jerry Renault and his struggles to remain unnoticed at Trinity school for boys. Archie, now in his last year, is still head of the Vigils but now with new enemies. Several new characters have become under the reader's scrutiny in a way only Robert Cormier knows how; it's as if the reader is inside the characters' head, becoming his psychiatrist. Although many things have changed at Trinity school since the chocolate sale, the themes from the original book have been carried over. These themes are not as strong (expectedly), but the overall effect is the same.
This novel lives up to the expectations of the first, and is a chilling conclusion to the series. Highly recommended.
