This review is from: The Classic Casseroles for Your Slow Cooker (Slow Cooker Library) (Paperback)
An excellent collection of over 100 straightforward slow cooker recipes, divided into sections based on the main meat component of each. There's also a vegetarian section at the end. I particularly like that the recipes (mainly) don't contain any esoteric ingredients - they are largely 'store-cupboard' or easily sourced items. Other plus points: no starter or dessert recipes, or stupid photos, to waste space! Really my only quibble is that the auther refers to an 'Auto' setting (equivalent apparently to an hour on 'high' followed by 'low' for the rest of the cooking time)in some recipes - I've not come across this on any slow cooker I've used myself.

On swan brand slow cookers there is an auto setting, as you say 1 hour on high the rest of the time on low.

Miss Surtees says:
I have an small old Tower slow cooker with Auto setting which must date to early 80s (?) which was passed on to me by my parents. I'm guessing that the book was written at that time and that the "Auto" selection has become obsolete as cookers have been refined over the years. It also does not have a lift out pot.
