Reheated for the most part,
This review is from: The Film Book (Hardcover)
I got caught on this one. The 2011 edition is a reheated and slightly expanded version of the 2006 edition of the SAME book. A few extra (and not particularly well-chosen) movies of the late Noughties thrown in to give it a fresh look. And then there's the totally silly metal box to hold the book. Good marketing ploy, but it is certainly the last DK book (and I have many) that I shall ever buy.

To Patrick Hunt: We sincerely apologise that this has happened. Unfortunately the note attached to this book saying that the majority of The Film Book's content has been taken from the Eyewitness Companion Film failed to feed out from our system. We are currently in the process of sorting this out so that this information will appear in the description of the book. If you send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org we would more than happy to send you a free DK book as an apology.

I take it this is sarcasm? Personally, I've found the DK books to be fantastically informative. There's been other DK books on Amazon that have been re-released, so it's not just this one. I think they've been incredibly harsh here.

'The 2011 edition is a reheated and slightly expanded version of the 2006 edition of the SAME book'. Err, isn't that what updated editions of books are supposed to do?!
In my opinion DK books are some of the finest ever published and I don't think they can be criticised for publishing new editions of older books.

You missed the point Mickram. Had I not been deceived by the ultra-slick packaging, I would not have bought it. My review was intended for people who already had the first edition. I like DK publications: over the past two weeks I bought their splendid Economics book, and the History of the 20th century. Have a nice day, Pat
